Hotel Petras Beach

The location close to city (although not walkable)

The smell of humidity in the room. But I guess is normal, due to season opening

Beds were OK but double booked twin supplied. Car park on site. Sole member of staff tried his best and was very pleasant. Generally seemed tired and had seen better days.

No bar or restaurant available, basic breakfast no toiletries or kettle, cups, tea coffee etc. no chair in bedroom. Kettle & cups provided on request.

We had room no 4 - overlooking the sea and the free parking just in front. Room 1-5 have sea view. It is family owned and everything was very easy. Our second time here

The water pressure in the shower. Good bed. Good pillows. The water became warm quite fast. Longish walking distance to downtown.

The hotel was hosting a bunch of local guys older than the middle age with a tendency to yell at each other instead of speaking in coarse voices. In the evenings the sat outside and endlessly talked, among themselves and on the phone. They could not help but bang doors any chance they get. Turning the door handle is not a Greek custom, apparently. A real Greek always bangs the door shut. The first night they arrived they yelled inside the hotel. Smell of cigarettes coming and going inside the hotel. Noisy air-conditioning. It was not particularly warm outside. Not sure who could have needed it. The sink pipe leaked water. No effort was made to repair it while I was there. The place is quite far from downtown Sitia. No shops or bars for miles. The room is barely larger than the bed, with very few surfaces to put things on. I was not even given a glass to drink water from. There is a medium-size fridge but no cooktop or kettle.. The Internet connection is very poor. The beaches are absolutely not worth international travel.
