The location of the cottage is perfect - one way a short walk to the pub, the other way a short walk into Chatsworth.

Thatch End Cottage is located in a beautiful village-setting with lots of trees, the sound of birdsong and the river close by. There are enough pubs/ places to eat to ring the changes - and even a traditional sweet shop! Walking distance from Chatsworth House and easily reached from Matlock, Bakewell and Chesterfield by car. The cottage is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. It was great that tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were there for our arrival, as were essentials like washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs and kitchen roll. One of the bathrooms had body wash, shampoo and conditioner also. Perfect for a short break.

The pubs stopped serving food at 8pm (sharp!) - which was too early for us on the first evening. However, the kind staff at the Italian restaurant managed to squeeze us in although they initially said that they were fully booked.

Comfy beds, beautiful and convenient location. Stunning building.

Loved it all, I think maybe some chicken wire and the bottom of the gate would be a good idea if you have smaller dogs 🐕 Had issues with the temperature of the shower in the shower of the bath, just didn't seem to get very hot ( but if you have a bath it's lovely and deep and hot hot hot 😄

What an amazing location. A gorgeous little Derbyshire village with many amenities within walking distance and direct access to the wonderful Chatsworth estate just literally round the corner. The cottage was a delight with eveything you need for a very comfortable and relaxing stay.

It would have been nice to allow full downstairs access for the dogs. I understand no access upstairs ( I brought a dog guard with me to block the bottom of the stairs) but it would have been much better if the dogs could have relaxed with the family in the evening as they do normally at home.

Perfect Location, we arrived parked the car and didn’t need to move it for 3 days. Lots of eating and drinking options within walking distance. Chatsworth is a short walk along the quiet lane from the cottage. Really comfortable beds and bedding. Facilities, the cottage had everything we could possibly need.
