The place was amazing but the king bed mattress was quite hard, struggled to sleep.
GBTop Lodge was very comfortable and beautifully positioned looking at the top of a small hill looking down over the caravan park towards one of the lakes where the water sports were held. The relatively new owners, Mhairi and Stefan have done a lot of work to make the place very comfortable and enjoyable for their guests. It was bright, nicely decorated with comfortable furniture, colourful pictures and even a massage chair which was so nice for a good massage of my back after a long day out! It had a lovely private hot tub outside with overhead canopy and excellent seating and play area surrounding it. The kitchen had a good sized fridge and separate freezer, hob and oven and washing machine which were very handy. It was ideal for us as we brought along our two grandchildren aged 11 yrs and 7 yrs and they had a lot of fun. The facilities on site were good providing fun things to do such as archery which we did as a family and all had great fun with Paul. There was also a swimming pool to book and a 9 hole pitch and putt course. There was a bar beside the play barn with a pool table which was enjoyed by all in the bar and also a nice restaurant. Our grandchildren loved the play barn which was a real hit for a game of footy and soft play where they made new friends - it definitely beat the other option on our last day - going to Port Patrick! There was also water sports on the lake and pony trekking available.
It would be extremely helpful to perhaps a little bit more information and recommendations on places to visit in the surrounding area, although we had gone on the internet and found some for ourselves. We took the children to the Gem Museum, shop and cafe (in Creetown) which was excellent and we all had fun leaving at the end with much more knowledge and a great morning out. Their cafe was excellent with delicious home baking and friendly staff and the kids enjoyed making fun purchases from their shop . We also went for some lovely walks in the forest.
