Complete Cute Apartment at Northfield Cottage

It is not in the village as we had expected when we booked, when we were sent the actual postcode, after booking, we saw that it was a 7 minute drive into the village. There are no cafes or restaurants within walking distance. However it could be a great short stay property with a few improvements. It has been configured thoughtfully but lacking in maintenance and facilities. There was no tea towels, washing up liquid or dishcloth, which made even having a cup of tea difficult. We bought our own tea/coffee etc but with have always had basic kitchen equipment at other self catering premises. Only 2 teaspoons, 3 cups and 2 small towels for the bathroom. The clock didn’t work and displayed the wrong time and there was a pile of fluff and dirt on the floor when we arrived, it appeared that someone had swept but forgot to pick the dirt up. Both the main front door and back door are PVC and have dropped, making them very difficult to open and close. There was dog poo in the gravel in the back yard when we arrived. The back yard is not secure, there is a wheelie bin containing old used dog poo bags, which is used to stop access from the road to the yard but it’s a wheelie bin! Small dogs would easily escape down the side of the bin too. The heating was off when we arrived (2 degrees outside). The heating worked well when on. The bed was comfy, it was in a quiet location but we wouldn’t stay here again.

Could do with few more cooking utensils if staying longer. Bit tricky to find at night but host very helpful. Was not expecting to provide ID and card photos in order to get key code having already paid for accommodation.

Nice. clean apartment. Good facilities except for a lack of kitchen equipment for people who want to cook. Location good for visiting Nottingham, although proximity to a busy main road might put some off.

The property was detached so it felt very secure and like a mini home from home

The apartment certainly deserves the name cute! The two bed set up was really helpful for my daughter and myself - she reported that the sofa bed was really comfortable. The whole set up worked really for us to explore Nottingham and the Peak District while my daughter was also able to quickly get to and from the local rink to train.

Really minor tweaks such as a tea towel plus a bottom sheet for the sofa bed.
