Amwaj Blue Cabana Arugambay

The property is about 5 minutes away from the main beach area by tuk-tuk, which I really appreciated. The area is much quieter and less touristy, making it a peaceful place to relax. If you're looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a more laid-back atmosphere, the location is a great choice. The surroundings are calm, and it offers a nice break from the busier parts of Arugam Bay. The staff were also friendly and helpful during my stay.

I understand that I booked a cabana and not a fully enclosed room, but it would have been helpful if insect screens had been installed to reduce the number of small insects coming inside. I also found the bathroom design unusual. Although it was private, it was not fully enclosed. When I stepped outside, I noticed that parts of the bathroom could be seen from above, which made me feel less comfortable and reduced the sense of privacy. The number of insects was another issue. There were many small insects in the cabana, especially at night, which made it difficult to relax and sleep comfortably. The property is beachfront, which initially seemed like a major advantage. However, I was informed by a staff member that swimming in front of the property is not recommended because the water is very deep and conditions can be unsafe. While this is not the fault of the property, it is something potential guests may want to be aware of, as the beachfront location may not offer the swimming experience some travelers expect. Overall, the location is beautiful, but better insect protection, improved bathroom privacy and clearer information about the beach conditions would help set guest expectations.

Location of this accommodation perfect if you like sunrise walks. Its outside of the city beach so you will meet maybe one other person walking there. Apparently you can spot turtles there as well I didn’t. 20 mins walking to main surfing point. 15 mons walking to croc rock with amazing views and crocs in river. Room has AC and was very clean.

Wifi doesn’t work. Its on and off. Not at all in the room. Blankets for sleeping are ridiculously small and thin (similar to tea towel). (2 small pcs per couple). Its nice to have breakfast however we got 1 cup of dhal , 1 rotti (taste was really good) and 4 toasted pieces of bread. Bit of butter or jam would be nice to have otherwise you’d eat dry bread. There are hammocks but unfortunately pretty uncomfortable. Only cold water.

All others OK. Breakfast was not adequate.

The cabana is beautiful inside.

The towels smelled. A very unpleasant smell. When I informed the staff, they didn't pay much attention to it. They gave me a towel that was hanging to dry in another cabana. They also said there was no food, no wifi. We had to go back to town to get food. There was construction going on, so the noise and natural beauty were ruined. There was a lot of noise in the morning. It's very difficult to recommend. I don't like this place or the staff.

The people were very nice and welcoming, smiling and warm. It is located right next to the beach, away from the city center, which can be very busy and crowded. The place has a real nice beach vibe.

The waves are quite big!

Good Location and Value for Money

Was very hot inside, it could have been designed in a way more wind flow through the cabana so it will be cooler.

Very nice peaceful cabanas just a few meters from the ocean. ☀️
