This past weekend we enjoyed an absolutely spectacular stay at Mount Vernon Manor just outside Stellenbosch! This enchanting wine farm exceeded all our expectations from the moment we arrived and relaxed into the homely charm of the farmhouse. Mount Vernon Manor boasts luxurious and spacious rooms, perfect for accommodating our large group of friends and family. The ambiance is incredibly cozy, with fireplaces that added a warmth to our evenings. We felt right at home with the 24/7 assistance of the two wonderful live-in housekeepers and the exceptionally attentive hostess/manager. Their dedication to our comfort was evident in every detail. We loved all the extra touches - particularly the complimentary wine from the farm itself, and freshly picked herbs and vegetables from their own gardens. Each bottle of wine was a testament to the quality and craftsmanship of Mount Vernon's vineyards and were enjoyed by us while gazing at the exquisite views from the house. We harvested oranges and lemons from the orchid – a first for the children and loads of fun. Loads of garden grass space allowed for the boys to kick their ball and play on the jungle gym. Braaiing was easy as it is inhouse with large sliding doors opening with a view of the garden and swimming pool. Day trips to wine estates and restaurants were easy to navigate and really within close proximity. This farmhouse is not just a place to stay; it’s an experience. Ideal for groups, the 12-sleeper accommodation provided us with ample space to relax and enjoy each other’s company. We can’t wait to return to Mount Vernon and relive this magical experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxurious, historical, and homely getaway! We rate the Manor and team 10 out of 10 - our stay felt like a home away from home.

The manor house is absolutely beautiful, and it was obvious that no costs were spared in the design of the interior. Rooms are very spacious and well-appointed with most rooms featuring luxurious ensuite bathrooms. There are many different seating areas throughout the house that can be closed off to spend time in privacy. The indoor BBQ (braai) area is spacious and has a huge floor to ceiling glass sliding door that opens up to the large lawn with swimming pool. It was great to spend the early morning on the covered, wind-sheltered veranda (stoep), looking over the adjacent vineyards. The kind domestic staff were very discreet and unobtrusive and made the beds and cleaned the kitchen without us even knowing they were there. Very close to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and the range of tourist facilities in the area. I would highly recommend a stay at Mount Vernon Manor and predict that once this "newcomer" is discovered it would become increasingly difficult to find availability at such an exceptional property.
