Could have been cleaner. When I took the sheets/duvet off the mattress protector looked as if it hadn't been washed in a long time. When I booked I didn't realize it was a shared space.

The host was responsive to our concerns and helped solve a situation with other guests partying. Nice outdoor sitting area.

We are touring NZ and have stayed in many similar places over the past 3 weeks. Compared to all of our other experiences, this one was not clean enough and not good value for money. The price is for ONE room only. The common areas are shared, which was not clear (all other guests that arrived thought they had the whole place). The whole house needs a deep clean. I witnessed the cleaning process done by family members - things were wiped down with a cloth, but not properly cleaned. We found garbage under the bed, empty containers and things left by previous guests in every room, cupboards that needed a scrubbing inside and out. We washed our own pillow cases because they didn’t seem clean. Guests should be provided with clean hand towels and face cloths rather than having common one in the bathroom. The shower needed a bleach and scrub, fridge needed to wiped more thoroughly. There should be adequate hand soap in the kitchen and bathroom and clean scubbies/brushes to wash dishes along with clean dish towels. On the second day without warning, family members were in the kitchen trying to install a new washer for hours which meant we couldn’t use the kitchen or laundry. I am sympathetic to this family trying to give this a go as a business, but most guests will expect more, particularly for the price. Scrubbing everything down top to bottom and providing better extras would go a long way, as would a clearer description of what you are getting (you cannot have visitors over for example). The backpackers hostels we have stayed in were cleaner and better kitted out.

Hadn't realused e were sharing unsuited etc... but otherwise ok.

What breakfast. There was herbal tea and coffee but no breakfast.

I was disappointed that Jack never confirmed my booking which meant I was not notified of such things as lock box number etc in advance instead of me having to phone him as initially I was locked out. few minor things. No teatowel. The batteries in the TV remote needed replacing but Jack was quick to call around after I phoned to show me how to work the TV without a remote.
