Hopetoun Apartment with free parking

Great location. Quiet street. Free Parking. Cleanliness. Ground floor. Decent size tv.

Not enough mugs and cutlery. Access to en suite shower cubicle too close to toilet.

Nothing much to like here - as soon as we walked into the apartment there was an overwhelming stench of tobacco smoke throughout the apartment - to such a degree that it affected our breathing and airways, not being able to sleep and having to go out rather than stay in an apartment that stank. All of this took place in what is advertised to be a non-smoking apartment.

The smoke stench was reported to the hosts from the first evening we arrived and they simply seemed to pooh-pooh the complaint and ignore it. After escalating this multiple times throughout the stay, eventually on our final day someone was sent around from the hosts. A couple arrived, the lady agreed with our assessment of the stench, however her partner did not. He did not seem to even understand the layout of the unit after telling me he had never had any such complaint and he had been managing the property for years, yet walked into a storage cupboard which he said was the bathroom. He became abusive, told us there was no such smell and then eventually told us we were wasting his time and stormed out. This was patently not the case, as his partner sent him back, first to apologise for his behaviour and, later on, to bring a peace offering of a bottle of whisky to make up for his unprofessional conduct. I would not recommend using any of the properties managed by this hosting company as they seem inept at dealing with clients with absolutely no give and take. Nicely worded apologies for a ruined experience do not cut it, some real action should have been taken and concessions made.

Like a luxury home from home! Free parking a bonus!

We were a group of 4 women (moms and daughters). The location of this property was great. We walked to most places. We enjoyed a couple of the restaurants and pubs right in the area. Instructions to access the apartment were clear and a book with helpful information was in the apartment.

The mattresses and pillows need upgrading.
