Roost Hostel Nikko

Although it was self-check in, the cleaner was there most of the time, and I was able to have a good chat with her. She worked very hard, and the hostel was incredibly clean and well-organised. You can leave your luggage downstairs in the main room after check-out. Super kitchen. Cosy bed with very comfortable mattress and duvet. Slept very well, as house is very old and quite cool. Easy to meet other travellers. Short walk from both Nikko stations. Free coffee and tea.

Very tinyl! - if you have a lot of luggage, you will definitely have to leave it downstairs. As the house is very old, there are no windows in the 'bedrooms' (some of these are more like a tree house!) Make absolutely sure you sleep only in the bed allotted to you by email - as it's self check-in, this works on trust. I met a lady who found somebody else in her bed when she got there! Very old bathroom, but shower works well. Light in capsule beds is very dim.

C’était très bien. Cependant oui c’est vrai que les murs sont fins mais j’ai été qu’avec des personnes hyper précautionneuses. Il y a une salle de bain (mais il y a plusieurs toilettes!) mais c’est suffisant car peu de personnes dans l’auberge. La maison est bien situé à quelques minutes de la gare, des bus, trains et commerces. Attention tout ferme tôt dans la ville (17h pour la plupart des activités et commerces/restaurant)

Il n’y avait pas de chauffage mais plusieurs couettes supplémentaires de proposées donc ça va.

Dormitory was nice. The other rooms seemed a bit older. Small kitchen, free coffee and tea. Lockers in front of the hostel.

Make sure you have the entry code and your bed number before you arrive. Only one shower for the hostel.

Convenient to station. Bed was comfortable. Quiet.
