Town View Homestay

My partner and l stayed for a week. Our hosts are welcoming and considerate. The room and bathroom are spotless, which is well above NZ average. We enjoyed our time over there. If you don't drive like us, you may find it a bit hard to walk up the hill each day, but it's a good exercise.

Close proximity to Whangarei Basin and Township. Elevated Property, so a lovely view overlooking.

The location was perfect, 5mn away from the city centre. The room was cozy and had everything we needed.

The bed was comfortable.

The place was advertised as a room with a private bathroom and a desk. There was no desk. More importantly, the bathroom was not private! We arrived rather late, at 9:30 pm. We turned on our phone lights and found our way up the stairs to the deck. We managed to unlock the lock box and got the key to our room. The room was small but the bed was comfortable. We looked for the bathroom but found only a bathroom with a shower. Our room instructions included this: Please note the bathroom with the bathtub will be your dedicated bathroom. All other doors in the hallway were closed and locked. We searched but found no other bathroom. However, when we returned from our car after gathering our bags, we heard water rushing outside. It was a bathtub being emptied! Inside, a door that had previously been closed, was open. There was our bathroom with the bathtub! Someone had just taken a bath! The room was wet, steamy and smelled strongly of body odor! We have stayed in hostels before as we love to travel inexpensively. But hostels indicate whether there is a shared or private bathroom. We reserved a room with a private bath and definitely did not get what we paid for. We left early the next morning withour ever seeing another person! And there were no check out instructions! I cannot recommend this place.

Superb accommodation and great value for money. I didn't meet my hosts who were out for the night, but the instructions for my stay were clear and easy to follow. I enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Great value for money, everything was great - room and bathroom were clean and it really felt like being at home. Could use kitchen/living room and Cindy and Schalk were great hosts. I would gladly stay here again.
