Ima House

It’s the best place that you can choose in Ahangana! Ima, Jama and the entire family are lovely people and they help me out a lot. Especially as a female solo traveler I felt very safe and taken care of.

New accommodation, very clean, nice bathroom with good shower, good breakfast.

There could maybe have been a few more hooks to hang clothes and towels onto.

An unforgettable stay at Ima House! The room was beautiful, and the family made us feel so welcome — truly the kindest, most accommodating hosts. Every breakfast was delicious, and the dinner we shared was one of the tastiest meals of our trip. It is in a great spot, we couldn’t recommend staying here more — thank you so much for everything!

Nothing, it’s perfect!

The room was new and beautifully designed, with a good terrace outside to relax on. All very clean and the bathroom had hot water. Staff are very helpful and breakfast was delicious! Highly recommend.

It was a little loud during our stay but think this was a problem with the hot water tank.

I travelled a lot in my life but this was one of the best place where I stayed. Very clean very comfortable bed brand new place. Was was so good we had breakfast and dinner everyday there. Ima and her family are super nice. We will definitely go back

This guest house has only been up and running for 3 months, however it is some place! The family are so welcoming and hospitable, we had breakfast included in the price and it was lovely. The host even gave me for free, some syrup medicine as I have had a cough for over a week and insisted he didn’t want any money for it. - clean -welcoming & hospitable hosts - good location - good breakfast

- no a/c, albeit there is a fan, it still feels warm throughout the night - no wifi - there was not enough room to unpack your things onto - the bathroom was very hot and humid

Our best and favourite stay of a month in Sri Lanka and perhaps our entire eight months in Asia so far was with Chama, Ima, and their family. They are the ultimate hosts, and their rooms are the perfect match. They are brand new and modern, with big ensuite bathrooms and hot water. The showers are probably the best we've had here. The private rooms are standalone mini houses/bungalows in and amongst the family's beautiful garden, which features peacocks, mongooses, monkeys, and lizards daily. You are surrounded by greenery and well away from the main road for quiet enjoyment, down a private little jungle-shrouded lane. But still in walking distance from a great and usually uncrowded surf break known as Gas Stations and a short tuk-tuk or a long walk to the main Ahangama area just before Marshmallows. The family's daily breakfasts are delicious and massive, and they have been the best of our Sri Lankan breakfasts. It might sound like I'm raving about this place a lot, but it's an accurate review. We stayed for a week and can't wait to return. They can arrange scooter rentals and tuk-tuks for long distances and can help you with other plans during your stay in Sri Lanka, as Chama and Ima speak excellent English. It's their first time running an accommodation, but they come across as seasoned pros.

The rooms are fan-conditioned, not air-conditioned, but they are large ceiling fans with a fast setting that cools the room all right. There is also no wifi yet, but for what you pay, you're getting a lot extra in other areas; plus, everything cellular data is fast and cheap here, and there are coworking spaces in walking distance, such as Moochies, which are practically two minutes away.
