Old Nurses Cottage

The view from the bedroom, the cosy living room, the very friendly and comforting landlord Fiona.

Some elements need a little renovation, e.g. shower should provide more hot water, washing basin appliances outdated, too little space for cosmetics, bedroom window should be cleaned.

The nurses cottage is located a few kilometres out of Portree and was a truly lovely respite after busy days of touring Skye. The view from the bedroom window was beautiful. Fiona and Willie are very experienced hosts and were on hand to help if required. Fiona gave us an excellent recommendation for where to find dinner and we were not disappointed!

Lovely location with a delightful view The owners were very helpful & engaging with local advice .

Firstly, I have to mention the view. It was magnificent and we felt very lucky that the owners shared this with us. The accommodation is the whole top floor so there's a kitchenette with dining table and a separate room to watch TV. We thought the bed was really comfortable and we slept great after exploring the island. There was parking outside the accommodation. Fiona was so friendly and we really enjoyed our stay. We would absolutely book here again if we ever visited Skye again.

Super comfortable accommodation with a lot of nice extra touches. The optional breakfast was excellent.

A great position for travellers with a car, short distance to Portree and centrally located between the north and south attractions (Quirang/The Storr and Fairy Pools/Talisker Distillery). Fiona was a lovely and gracious host, offering us a wee dram on arrival, and accommodating our preference for plunger coffee. We also got to meet her new Bichon Frisé puppy, and slightly older but just as adorable toy poodles 😍 Bonus points too - if you do want to visit a distillery or two, they run one of the only Taxi services on the island and will get you safely home! We will be back to Skye and would love to stay with Fiona again.

We had the whole upper floor all to ourselves, which meant there was a lot of privacy. The place was very clean and well maintained. The view from the room was fabulous, overlooking a tranquil bay. Fiona and Willy were wonderful hosts. We had trouble booking our ferry ticket and Fiona came to the rescue! We appreciate the help which was rendered with much warmth and kindness.

The place was a 12 min drive from Portree. There's not too much in walking distance for food so you'll probably have to drive places. The view from our room was great. We looked out over the lock and Storr. Being up a floor gave us a great view without trees in the way. The hosts added very nice touches to the room like some scotch, binoculars, a little fridge with milk for tea. The shower had amazing pressure with good water temperature. The bed was softer than my preferred rock firmness but I was able to sleep very well. The wifi was strong and fast. I was able to take some zoom calls over it without any problem. I would definitely go back for longer in the future.
