Two Bridges Tekapo

Location and view were great. Easy to book at very short noice and no hastle getting access at short notice. Warm, clean and tidy.

Excellent location everything was spotless so glad I ignored the bad review as it was clean and very easy to find and beautiful views so would definitely stay again. Nice path down to the road and lake.

Lovely spacious room, lake views and a short walk to the lake, church and dog monument.

A large apartment with real double bed, kitchen and dining table, bathroom with bathtub. Located directly aside Lake Tekapo. Quiet but not far from the town center street.

No real reception, not seeing anyone, the key finding a bit complicated.

It could’ve been a nice stay, but I happened to catch them out by chance. THEY DON’T CHANGE THE BEDDING BETWEEN GUESTS. And according to Greg, owner of Book Tekapo, ‘every holiday home company in New Zealand’ does this. Apparently its industry standard to not fully change bedding between bookings. Book Tekapo manage over 50 holiday properties in the area, so beware if you’re looking around Lake Tekapo. Please read more below!

We arrived at 2.50pm (3pm check in). Accommodation had not been cleaned after previous guest, no one was insight. I’d taken a photo of the unmade bed (pictured). Contacted them, they apologised and said they’d sort within 30mins. Fine. We came back later, property had been cleaned, but the duvet cover and two pillows were still the SAME (and is pictured in a few other reviews). One of the cleaners had to come back to collect something they’d left behind. I asked if the bedding had been changed. She said they had changed the sheets. I pointed out that the duvet cover and 2x pillows (which smelt) were the same as the unmade, slept in bed, when we first arrived. She said, ‘oh, no, we don’t change those’. I replied, ‘well that’s disgusting’ and before I could say anything else she abruptly walked off, leaving us dumbfounded. It was almost 6pm, we’d driven for 4hrs and were tired so decided to strip the dirty bedding and sleep in hoodies and leggings with no blankets, unfortunately it got very cold and we didn’t get much sleep. I messaged them upon checking out to say I was horrified to learn that they don’t change bedding between guests and noted how unhygienic that was, pointing out there are several bacterial infections that could be passed onto their future unsuspecting guests. Greg’s response was basically ‘thanks for the feedback, but this is how all holiday rentals and hostels operate in NZ and if it was such a problem, then why didn’t you insist that the bedding needed to be changed’. No apology, no recognition that it’s unhygienic to leave USED PILLOW CASES on the bed for the next guest. We paid NZD$400 for one night, at that price expect clean bedding.

Would be better with a stove in the kitchen but not a big problem! Also would be beneficial to have some bug spray around because there were a lot of insects at night
