Great scenery, very peaceful Friendly and humble hosts who run an amazing organisation that takes care of sick and injured animals. Awesome opportunities to feed the animals and lots of space for kids.

As we cannot expect the owners pivot due to costs, fair warning to those arriving. 1. Resident Rat who visited us a few times during our stay, rustic for some, unnacceptable to others. 2. No ceiling above the beds, meaning constant cold breeze in the bedrooms. Uncomfortable for adults but critical issues for small kids in winter. Bring your own extra blankets, and maybe one more!

"Nice location, cold and under equipped cottage."

6.0

The location is pretty and in easy access of Maropeng, Sterkfontein and other attractions. In summer I imagine it could be very nice.

The accommodation is a converted Lapa, which is sparsely furnished with no heating. It was cold. The bedding was inadequate for the cold winter temperatures. The cooking utensils and crockery and cutlery were an odd assortment that didn’t quite meet the needs of the place. With a nice fireplace, better cooking equipment, adequate bedding and blankets it could be great.

The View was amazing!

The nature element of rats was a bit disconcerting but we managed it

It was toatally not what i expected. You can see throug the curtains. The water pressure so low i ciuld not shower. There is a rat in the house and was told its a vegan place and they will not kill it. There was no keys for the doors. So if you are inside you can lock it on a way but shoulf you go out you cannot lock the door. There is one main light only and no light swich you need to switch it off by the db board. Then your kitchen lights you have to charge from your sell phone charger. Its totally unexpeted. I paid for rubbish. I only slept there one knight and left. Lost my money on a weekend that was supposed to be my getaway for my birthday. Im so discussed.

"Work in Progress, but amazing opportunity to getaway."

8.0

Amazing views and incredible 'farm' lifestyle. Hosts are fantastic and offer the opportunity to engage with all of the friendly animals during feeding time. Brilliant!!

Think about putting in a Microwave and some lighting above the kitchen area, also maybe raise the bedroom walls to the roof....

"A quiet, relaxing stay to recharge !! Thank you :)"

9.0

What a wonderful place just outside the city. An enormous house with 2 bedrooms and comfortable beds. The house was spotlessly clean and fully equipped. Waking up to the sounds of the farm animals made the weekend extra special. The peace and quiet and tranquil setting was just what was needed to recharge our batteries.

There was nothing not to like. However, we would have liked to be able to lock the door before going to bed.

"Exceptional"

10.0

Such a lovely restful spot to unwind. Super welcoming, they took me and my two girls on a tour while feeding their collection of everything from alpacas to donkeys, horses and more. The work they do as a vegan rescue is exceptional, it was a privilege to be part of it for a few days. The accommodation is huge, with both rooms ensuite and lots of space to get away from city life, right on a big duck pond from where you can see the most amazing sunsets. Everything you need is there, a gas hob to cook with regardless of what Eskom is doing and plenty of tea varieties for the colder winter nights!
