Honey Moon Cottage

In the advertising a pool was offered ...no pool on arrival ..the host was very casual on arrival sorry no pool the light fixture not working in the bathroom the taps inthe bathroom and kitchen leak ...easily fixed...and the fan doesn't work ...a standing one was provided...this is in a location of temperatures over 32 degrees that's why we booked for a pool ...I was disappointed as it was for my husband's birthday ...I wrote to the host but she didn't reply ...although happy to take our money.

It is a lovely little unit in a quiet area, and a fairly easy walk to the village shops and restaurants. The bathroom has a spacious bath tub that was lovely to soak in.

There are no street numbers on the houses, and the property does not have a sign to say it is Honey Moon Cottage, and nobody lives there, so it is not easy to locate or to access. After a short wait a young man rode up on a bicycle and handed us the keys. The place needs quite a bit of maintenance done to it, and the burglar proofing is a joke as anybody with a spanner could remove the bars held to the outside walls by four bolts and get in the open windows. The bed had a huge thick feather duvet on it that was far too hot and heavy, and there was no other bedding available in the unit so we used a lightweight blanket we had with us. The bath is lovely, but if you want to shower the shower runs onto the bathroom floor and makes the whole area wet around the bath, washbasin and toilet. Also the shower cold tap is loose and falls off! The bathroom window cannot be closed and does not even have a latch to close it as it has broken off! A dead tree hanging over the parking bay could shed branches or even fall onto ones vehicle in a storm. The taps in the kitchen and bathroom basin are loose and need to be tightened down. Wooden window frames and the door frame are rotting away, and the putty is falling out of window frames so the window panes could fall out in time. Ants are swarming all around the house and along the outside walls and getting into the rotting door frame and cracks in the building.

Good value for money, nice little cottage, well equipped with everything we needed. Really enjoyed the fireplace during the cold nights.

Could do with some lights in the garden area as it is very dark at night due to the trees. Getting from the parking space to the cottage was also a bit of frustrating due to the many tree branches, so no clear walk-way to the cottage. Again due to no lighting in the garden area you must watch your head.

The location is very good and the cottage very private. The bath was excellent and the bed very comfortable. The place was cosy and the fireplace and heater helped to warm up the place.

The entrance is a bit narrow if you travel with a large vehicle. We also had difficulty with the door of the cottage to get it locked - probably due to all the rain that effected the wooden door. The shower head did not work properly, so it was difficult to shower.

We had an agreement to check in at 12, that was changed when we arrived and had to wait till past 2pm. Arriving at the property we tried calling but no one answers the cell phones We were told our booking got lost hence the host was unprepared for our arrival Driving into the property it felt like we staying in someones back yard Due to a recent break at the property, the front door could not close and we felt unsafe. Overall the experience was definitely not good and we lost our money not as result of our own doing but due to poor management and the state of the venue.
