TBH Hotel

The bed was comfortable and reasonably clean as was the bathroom.

We are both 80+ years old. Reception was up 3 flights of stairs our room was another 6 flights higher. Among facilities listed is onsite parking. On contacting site was told only available between 6pm & 8am. Was also informed that it was not possible to drop off luggage as the road outside the hotel was for buses only. Other facilities listed were an available kitchen with tea & coffee making abilities. None of these were available or offered. The room looked a lot less desirable than shown in the pictures. There were no bedside lamps so it was necessary to switch the light off by the door then grope your way back to the bed. The bathroom was as big as a double wardrobe and when using toilet your knees hit the hand basin pedestal. The aircon was a free standing fan which did little than move the hot air about. On returning from a long hot day in London the air inside the room was unbearable even though the fan had been running all day. We had to leave the windows and door open for 2 hours before the room became reasonably comfortable. It was also noted that no housekeeping had been carried out while we were out. Nothing had been cleaned no towels changed. The next morning, despite running the hot water tap for 5 minutes no hot water was forthcoming. That was the last straw so despite the fact that we still had a further night booked we checked out. Good points reception were helpful and the building was situated close to our reason for being in Barking. Understand that you only get what you pay for but we were led to believe that we would be getting much more than we did. The room we were given should have been called “basic “ not “standard”. We will not be returning.

The staff is disrespectful. It’s very hot no aircon. I had cut on my feet coz there tiles in the toilet was broken. So many water in the shower and didn’t go through the pipe. No mugs or cup.
