Apartamento Central Antero de Quental

Perfect location close to the centre of Ponta Delgada with the bonus of underground parking which is ideal if you're hiring a car (just don't try getting an SUV down there as access is quite tight and the parking space is up against a wall). Easy to find with lots of great amenities nearby. Kitchen is well equipped and the living area is comfortable.

We agreed a check-in time with the host of 2pm but arrived to find the apartment had not been cleaned and beds left untidy from the previous occupants. After messaging through Booking and WhatsApp to no response, I was able to phone the host who arranged for the cleaner to come and sort the apartment out. Unfortunately as there is only one key to the property, this meant we had to wait around for the cleaner who did a great job, but this wasn't resolved until after 6pm, meaning we lost the best part of half a day of our trip and was a source of frustration on the first day of our holiday. There also seemed to be some confusion the day before checkout as the cleaner turned up with fresh bedding early in the morning even though we weren't checking out till the following day. The washing machine in the utility space appeared to be broken and there was a fair amount of traffic noise that could be heard from the front bedroom but I appreciate this can't be helped. It seems like some feedback has been actioned by the host, the WiFi worked albeit a bit slow and the kitchen has a lot more cutlery / crockery than past reviews suggest but the communication needs to be improved to make this a top spot in Ponta Delgada.
