ApartHotel Cetate Alba Iulia

The hosts were both lovely and super helpful. They came to help us find the apartment, helped get the washer started and allowed us to keep bags in room till 14.00 on the day of departure. The location was super and the balcony was spacious, as was the apartment.

The property is described as an aparthotel, but is in reality just an apartment. This created a massive gap in our expectations, eg we expected a front desk, left luggage facilities (without having to ask 'as a favour' and for all the items listed under facilities to be provided. In reality there was no hair dryer, no tumble drier, not even any cups or anything to light the cooker with. The apartment was not dirty but some of the pots could have been cleaner. Some of the furniture was quite old / tired. Relative to other apartments we considered this was more expensive but we chose it because of the aparthotel description. The property address does not list a block number so it is very hard to find, especially as Google maps does not recognize Aparthotel Cetate as a real thing... Maybe because it isn't

The flat is amazing! It's spacious, nice and clean (like, super clean!). The bedroom has a double bed and entrance to the terrace, The day room has a big comfy couch, so 4 ppl can stay there with no issues. The kitchen is huge and overall there is a lot of daylight. The bathroom is also really nice with a bathtub, but also a shower handle, so a long bath or quick shower is possible. There is a lot of light in the bathroom which is not always a case and again, very, very clean. They accept dogs, so if you're traveling with your pet, that's not a problem. Another good thing: location. It's literally in the heart of Alba Iulia, with a shop open until 11 p.m. just around the corner and Citadel visible from the terrace. Also, like 140 meters from the flat there is an amazing restaurant Dante (recommended by the owner) with delicious food and desserts (you have to try upside down cheesecake). The owner met us next to the flat and helped park the car and shared all of the recommendations (she's a local and super nice person). Overall, our stay exceeded the expectations, so we decided to prolong our stay in Alba Iulia and the flat.
