NYC Speakeasy-BedStuy Chapel

People need to know that there are NO WINDOWS in this unit. We didn't realize that when we booked it. The host immediately texted to alert us to this fact, but it had been difficult to find a place big enough for 6, so we accepted this. People need to understand what this means. There is no natural light at all: it's like a tomb without lights on. There is no air from outside. For a time the wall units weren't functioning, and it became very clammy. The host fixed them, but overall the place feels odd because of this fact. I also don't get how it's legal. Other than this rather enormous fact, it's a pleasant place, as advertised.

Fairly easy to find. 15min walk from Kingston-Throop Metro Station, so easy access to all tourist attractions. Location was fine. Generally felt comfortable walking the streets, but Saturday night was rowdy and lots of litter in the streets the next day. Groceries at Ideal Supermarket 5 minutes around the corner. Clean accommodation, 2 double bedrooms, kitchen with basics provided (tea, coffee, spices, pots and pans), clean bathroom and good washer/dryer. Adequate supply of towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent). The umbrellas were much appreciated. Also, handy to have a vacuum, as we accidentally broke a breakfast bowl while doing the dishes (sorry). Didn't mind the lack of windows as we were only there for short periods morning/night (felt like a well-styled dungeon), but you'll need an alarm to wake up as you have no idea if it's night or day! Owners respond to messages quickly.

TV reception slow at times, so watching movie can be frustrating. Beds were a bit bouncy/soft compared to what we're used to. Tips for the front door: - Careful when you shut it. Give it a tug, or it can be left open accidentally. - Wire door is a bit stuck, so you have to use some muscle when turning the knob . If there was a lockable screen on the wire door (not perspex), we could have left it open for air to circulate. - quite expensive, but I think it's indicative of New York

The area was a bit different than what I expected.

The property is very clean, the house was very warm, well equipped, looks exactly like the photos. The hosts were very kind and helpful! I enjoyed my stay and I actually miss the place
