Thabamati Luxury Tented Camp

Extremely well organized. Staff is very nice. Staff really makes you feel special. Tents are very comfortable. Game drives were great. We saw all the big 5. And the water in the front makes the experience extra special!

The bush was still very dense, compared to other areas of the reserve.

O lago em frente ao hotel nos proporcionou momentos inesquecíveis com a presença dos hipopótamos, elefantes e impalas. Fomos muito felizes nos dias que estivemos no Thabamati e esperamos voltar em breve!

Our stay at Thabamati Luxury Tented Camp was truly fantastic. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Oskar, Mish, Charlie, the chef, and the entire team made us feel incredibly welcome. The attention to detail was remarkable. One thing we especially loved was how they moved our dinner table to different locations every evening, creating a unique and memorable atmosphere each night. The food was outstanding — beautifully prepared and delicious at every meal. The wildlife experience was incredible. During our stay we saw a wide variety of animals including many elephants, giraffes, zebras, gazelles, buffalo, rhinos, and even a leopard. The amount and diversity of wildlife we saw was truly impressive. The explanations and knowledge shared during the game drives made the experience even more enjoyable and educational. The tents themselves are very luxurious and comfortable, perfectly blending the feeling of being in nature with high-end comfort. Having a hippopotamus right outside our tent was something very special and unforgettable. Being able to leave directly from the camp and encounter elephants and many other animals nearby made the experience even more extraordinary. But beyond the animals and the beautiful camp, what impressed us most was the warmth, professionalism, and care from the entire team. We spent two months traveling in South Africa, and these days at Thabamati were truly one of the highlights of our entire trip. We highly recommend this place — it is absolutely a five-star experience.

Thabamati was an exceptional experience. The lodge is stunning. They have a pool and deck for everyone that overlooks the watering hole. Each day animals came up to it, usually around lunch time. I saw rhinos, elephants, zebras, hippos, giraffes, antelope species, and more from the deck. At night by the fireplace we saw the Milky Way and hyenas. It was a place where we could come together. The rooms are beautifully crafted. Each deck has a view of the watering hole. I had elephants right next to my room one afternoon and I got to watch them all by myself on my deck. The service is genuinely incredible. Everyone cares about you and that you are having a good time. When I came back from my first game drive, they had drawn me a bath. They always had drinks waiting for us and a warm towel. They checked in frequently to make sure I was comfortable, hydrated, warm. The game drives were fantastic. My guide and tracker knew the land and nature and animals so deeply which made for the best experience. There are only 9 seats in the Land Cruiser so everyone has a good viewing seat. They had blankets, water, hot water bottles for us to be comfortable on drives once the sun set or the wind picked up. Lastly, the food was world class. Each night, I kept saying this was the best meal I’d eaten. They were accommodating for vegetarians and always gave me options. The desserts were traditional South African desserts which were the most delicious. All in all, this stay was the most luxurious place I’ve ever been but more importantly, I felt that the staff and lodge held a deep respect for the place they were and the animals that we are there to see. It felt intimate and private with only 4 rooms. This was truly the stay of a lifetime.

Amazing hospitality throughout the entire stay. The camp is beautiful, with perfection in every detail. The tents were very comfortable, spotless, and equipped with everything you could need. The food was delicious, and the safari game drives were absolutely incredible, with an amazing variety of animals to see.

The experience at Thabamati exceeded all of our expectations. We kicked off our honeymoon in SA with a 4 night safari and we must say the bar was set very high! The food was excellent, the accommodations were spotless and the staff were so attentive and welcoming. The lodge is bang in the middle of it all with resident hippos just meters away from your tent. Mich and Charlie pour their heart and soul into curating a slice of paradise in the wild for their guests and the results speak for themselves. The safari itself was nothing short of breathtaking. We saw the big 5 and more up close with detailed explanation and interesting tid bits of information constantly flowing. The guide and Oscar the tracker are super informative, knowledgeable and professional. We would definitely recommend it for a personal and high end safari experience!
