Central location, v clean, friendly welcome, shared kitchen area for cooking. nearby parking ( 3 hours).

Chest of drawers woukd be welcome- to unpack clothes

Great central location. Clean. Good kitchen facilities. Does the job.

New towels probably needed and toaster and kettle could probably do with being replaced.

Check in was easy and rooms were clean and fine. Does the job for one night.

Bathrooms were a big wet room that is drenched after a shower. Room is smaller than expected as well, was fine for one night but I probably wouldn't be booking in a long stay.

The shower was so strong and caused the bathroom to flood

We took 6 rooms between 17 people. Aged from 12 - 80! Bear in mind this is a Youth Hostel. We were pleasantly surprised. Greeted by a very friendly chap when we arrived. (If only all 5 star hotels were this friendly!) The rooms although simple, (as expected) were clean, tidy and did exactly what was required. The communal areas were equally good. We thought we were going to get basic and simple, and not be overly surprised. However either youth hostels have improved dramatically since I was last in one (which is a long time ago) or The Barrel Store is a cut above. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Don't expect 5 star accommodation, but do expect exceptional value for money. As a family, we are already planning our return!

The shower cubicles could have been a bit wider! (But except for the Gym rats in the party none of us are that big so could all fit in ok) (I wouldn't say we didn't like them, but beware that they were not built for the larger frame!)
