Sultan Pansion Bird Paradise

The staff (not the owner) was pleasant and the food was fine. The pension is the only accommodation close to the marsh, so the location is ideal. The birding guide associated with the pension is quite good, even though his rates are high.

Previous guests warned us that they would try to overcharge us, which is exactly what happened. Despite our documentation showing our reserved room rate (through Booking.com), they argued their rates had increased since the original reservation. They tried to get us to pay the current rate, which is far too high for this low-quality pension. Although we did not realize it while checking out, they double charged us (by charging the credit card given at check out AND a different credit card they had on file during the original reservation). Very sneaky. Fortunately, scams like this can be dealt with by disputing fraudulent credit card charges.

The hotel is next to the park entrance with 2 long walking trails. It is nice and quiet. The food is good. The cook is very nice and so is the serving staff.

I thought this would be near the lake and it is not. Birding was okay but better at lake. Dont come here without a car. The manager has you over a barrel in terms of bird guide and transportation. If either was professional and in English it would be almost worth it. But the "bird guide" knows his birds but doesn't understand English well. He also walks way ahead of you and misses lots of the warblers. The boat ride is a total joke. A quick few strokes not on the lake and back. And charges 80-100 euro for it! Also misleading about the bird expedition mentioning going to mountains but not telling you it's another 300 euro until you ask. He is a typical Turkish con man. As the only white tourist I felt like a walking $ sign. Would not come back. Room passable but sink leaked directly onto floor.

Friendly people and clean room. Good location as a starting point to go to surrounding Parks, although you need to have your own car cause public transport won't get you there. They also offer lunch and diner if you want.

Not a very good stay for solo travellers, especially who aren't at age. Also the breakfast is very scanty and you have to pay separately for your water (which is not really common)
