Vakantiepark De Thijmse Berg

August holidays but not crowded, there were times we had the pool to ourselves as most other families drive out for the day. Great exploring in the nearby woods for walks and mountain bikes. Our cabin did not have a parking space for a car but plenty of space in utility shed for 3 bikes and the washing machine.

Our cabin was passed by many cars as we were close to the entrance, they were going slowly and carefully, but often.

Location was great. Nice forest, close to zoo: great for a family weekend. Staff were friendly.

Pool wasn’t clean. Kiddy pool felt old. The two houses we stayed in both weren’t cleaned properly: dirty plates, mold in shower, dust everywhere. Outdoor couch was broken in one of them.

Well equipped

It was like being in the jungle at times with mosquitos and flies. They were driving me mad

The property itself is well maintained, spacious, fairly clean, feels new. It has a spacious kitchen/living and the layout makes sense. It has a small porch, so you can sit outside even when it's raining or when it's really sunny. The kitchen is equipped with essentials, though not much else, really. For families and people staying longer, the washing machine is a great asset. There's plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. The park itself is in the middle of a forest area. It's very close no the village of Rhenen, where you have all the shops and restaurants you might need. The pool situation on the park is great for families with young children. There is a kids' pool that is separate from the deep pool, both guarded by fences. The restaurant/bar offers a good variety of food kids usually like, like fries, chicken nuggets and pizza. The quality of the food is good for the price, and the staff are friendly. The park is safe for children to walk around because traffic drives slowly and there are no pets allowed, and it is quiet at night. The people at the reception desk are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The park has a nice playground and a small indoor play area for small kids.

Considering the price we paid, I expected better from this property on many points. The sheets and pillow cases were clean, but right underneath, the cheap mattress, flannel and pillows are all a bit stained and nasty. This became apparent when we took off the sheets at the end of our stay. The property looks clean at a glance, but under the couch and beds, in the kitchen drawers there's dirt from previous stays. The parcel on which the property resides is very small, and other properties on the park are really close by. There's very little sense of privacy. Be sure to close the curtains if you plan to walk around naked inside, because the neighbors across the road have a large window that looks directly into this property. As a result of the small parcel, there's not much of a yard to play in. No room to throw a frisbee, play soccer, or do any sort of yard game, really. And since the park itself doesn't have a large field The clock had an empty battery, the vacuum cleaner was broken, the knives don't cut very well, towels weren't included The 'queen bed' turned out to be just two singles pushed together with a single large sheet to cover them. The property heats up quickly on sunny days, but doesn't have air conditioning to keep the bedrooms at a reasonable temperature. I can't imagine it being comfortable to sleep in after a 30+C day. The toilet is next to one of the bedrooms, which due to the thin walls is quite noisy.

Very friendly staff. Great location in the woods, Nice swimming pool and good facilities for the kids. Restaurant food above expectations

The property has a nice location, the staff was nice.

It’s more about the entire Vakantienpark. There are no restaurants around where you can eat a breakfast. Meaning upon our arrival we have to go to the shop to buy a food, and because we arrived later the shops were already closed, so we have to wait until the next morning. The closest shop was like more than 2 km away. In Valantienpark there is no possibility to eat until Thursday after 14.00 when the restaurant opens, and closes at 20.00. Actually there is nothing to do there … no restaurants, no bars, nothing … a super boring place.
