Whale Rock Holiday Apartment

Basically nothing I can mention. The rooms looked promising upon arrival but the things we discovered left no room for excitement and comfort of our stay at the apartment.

Arriving at the place only to find what’s advertised is not what we got. We couldn’t braai from the comfort of our apartment as a wrong gas was placed with a braai stand. Which made it clear that the host doesn’t fully inspect everything before arrival of guests. Lack of facilities to use (e.g. ironing board) and also having to bath with cold water throughout the stay. Uncleanness of towels and rooms (discovered cigarettes and we had to clean all that ourselves upon arrival). Tried to attempt raising our complains as form of seeking help, but we couldn’t reach out to the host/owner/care taker of the apartment and being insulted by one of the security guards because of raising our complains and asking to be given care taker’s number. No one came to check if everything was okay or ask if we’re enjoying our stay. All that made us see that “guests are not prioritised and host (referring to ours) doesn’t put best of interest to meeting and making guests stay worth it”.

Terrible Experience – Misleading Listing & Poor Maintenance This was one of the worst vacation experiences I've ever had. The property we booked through Booking.com was completely different from what was advertised. It turned out to be a nightmare. The kitchen was infested with cockroaches—coming out of every drawer. The bedding smelled musty, like it had been stored away for ages. As someone with sinus issues, this triggered my allergies immediately. The listing claimed to have fully functional Wi-Fi and a gas braai stand. However, the Wi-Fi never worked, and the gas braai stand was completely empty. When I contacted the owner, he casually said, "Oh, it was full last week—that's strange." The gas bottle was rusted and clearly hadn't been replaced in a long time. The drainage was blocked, making the stay even more uncomfortable. I had to spend extra money because the facilities that were promised in the listing were not actually available. The worst part was the owner’s attitude—completely dismissive and unwilling to take responsibility. He didn’t even bother to check or follow up after I reported these issues. If you’re considering booking this place, I strongly advise against it. The listing is misleading, the property is poorly maintained, and the management is unhelpful.

Finishes inside was nice. Balcony good size.

Place needs to be fumigated. Cockroaches invaded our food. Which we had to buy cos day 1 no gas was provided.. Day 2 charcoal had to be purchased for braai which the Cockroaches attacked inside the apartment. Doors need to be oiled. Had trouble opening.

The host was super friendly and catered to all my requests. The location is prime, the apartment was clean and enough parking. Most of all, the view is absolutely amazing. I recommend this accommodation.

There is nothing that I did not like. Everything was perfect.
