Oliveira Surf House Ericeira

We stayed in this accommodation for four nights. Unfortunately, our experience was far from smooth. Although we had arranged a late check-in with the host Benny in advance, the code he provided for the key safe didn’t work upon arrival. We tried to contact him dozens of times via calls and messages, but he was completely unreachable. It was the middle of the night, and we were stuck outside. Thankfully, a neighbor eventually showed up and gave us a spare key. The apartment itself was okay but noticeably worn and not particularly clean. There was a very strong moldy smell, especially in the bathroom and kitchen. When I mentioned this to Benny, he dismissed it as being “normal for an older house.” However, I can clearly distinguish between an old building smell and mold — there were visible mold spots on lampshades and other surfaces. After we checked out, things got worse. Benny claimed we had caused damage to a table (a supposed burn mark), and demanded compensation via his insurance. We never cooked, lit candles, or did anything that could have caused such damage. Despite repeated requests, he never sent any photos or clear information. To us, the entire claim feels dishonest and possibly fraudulent. Despite the good location, we cannot recommend this place due to the poor condition, lack of cleanliness, unreliable communication, and highly questionable behavior after checkout

Character, spacious, clean, nice yard

Pillows a bit hard. Would have liked sun loungers and maybe wine glasses and a beach umbrella

Comfortable beds and rooms. Clean. Cosy decoration. Very nice host. Charming and friendly village

Comfortable chairs/ puffs to sit outside would have been nice. Iron and hangers.
