Bastimentos Hill Guest House

Big terrace with great views, well equipped kitchen

We really liked that we chose Bastimientos island as our base, as it is peaceful and quiet. The hotel is located right in the middle of the town, but it is like 5-7min walk to both ends of it. About 30min walk to Wizards beach (the only beach reachable on foot, for others you would need a boat taxi) I really liked the architecture of it, there are several ladders and it looks like it is climbing the hill :) Enrique is a friendly and helpful host and speaks English so it was easy for us to communicate. Since it was low season, I got the impression that we were the only guests there which made the experience even better. One of the highlights was chilling in the hammocks on the terrace in the evening and enjoying the view over the bay. Room is simple, but has everything we needed: a/c, warm shower, comfy bed.

The roosters, which freely roam about the island, were waking us up sometimes around 4am :)

Beautiful stay on Bastimentos! If you would like a more tranquil stay and aren't in Bocas to party, this is the perfect spot. I spent two weeks at Bastimentos Hill Guesthouse and couldn't recommend more! I work remotely, and Enrique kindly made sure I had somewhere to comfortably work. The wifi was stable and strong, with only one or two short power cuts during my stay.

Enrique is an excellent host, so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. He even took our children out on a fishing trip. We were upgraded to the larger room with it’s own kitchen. The hostel is in a great location, and has a dock right in front. There is a mini market right next door, and some lovely restaurants nearby.

There was no water to shower and the refrigerator was dirty then I clean it up to put my food for next day and next day I went to grab my food for my 15 hours trip and my food was gone ..some body gust taked my food 😐

Enrique (the host) is super nice & helpful 🤗 Hostal is clean, bright and enjoyable. Beds were comfortable, hot water was fine, air conditioner was working properly. There is a common use equipped kitchen. 100% recommended.

We booked quite spontaneously after being unhappy at the much more expensive Selina Red Frog (not recommended) and got the apartment with one bedroom and a big living room with 2 more single beds. There's an open kitchen with gas stove and big fridge and a bathroom with powerful shower in the apartment. Beds were comfortable, bedroom has air conditioning and sea view. Everything was clean and decorated with some nice details. Enrique, the owner, is super friendly and relaxed, although not always easy to find him as there was no staff around most of the time (maybe different in high season). He even borrowed me his surf board, which I appreciated a lot! We really liked this sweet hostel, travelling with 2 kids 8 and 11, and we loved the vibe of Bastimentos. You can walk to beautiful Wizard Beach in about 20-30 min. And don't miss Mamis Restaurant at the beginning of the trail, fantastic food and company!

Very comfortable apartment with airconditioning and decent shower. Beds were also comfortable.

The kitchen did not have enough pots, pans, utensils, etc.
