"Disappointed rebook experience"

The night before we were to arrive the host messaged me to inform me that the key system for the door was not working and that we would be unable to stay there. The host then rebooked us at a nearby property she promised would be comparable to the original suite we had booked. The rebooked room was not the same type of accommodations we had wanted. In fairness the host did offer to refund us our money and we could rebook our own room but we did not have time to do this as it was very last minute.

The hotel was originally built as a condo building and some of the units are owned by individual owners and others by Hilton. We booked through Booking.Com and stayed 3 nights in the unit that is privately owned and the ratings are specifically for the hostess and the unit. Kate was our hostess and she exceeded all out expectations! The unit was a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen and balcony with wonderful view of the ocean and inter-coastal. The unit was very clean, comfortable beds, plenty of towels in the bathroom. Kate provided us with coffee, tea, cream, bottled water and it was more than we would ever get from Hilton. Internet was exceptional. Kate provided great dinner restaurant recommendation AND she actually drove us there and brought us back - this was WAY beyond our expectations. We feel that after that stay we made a new friend! If we come back to Ft. Lauderdale, I would absolutely without any hesitation book the same unit. Thank you Kate for making our stay exceptional!

The issues we did have had nothing to do with the unit, but with the way Hilton treated us. We arrived late and tired and the front desk was to provide us with the keys to the room. We were advised that they do not have our reservation. I showed them the fully pre-paid reservation details and they proceeded to tell me it was not in their system because the host did not advise them of the booking (the booking was done through Booking.Com). I asked them to contact the host and they did so and after a few minutes Kate came down as she fortunately was in the building. She advised the front desk that she did confirm reservation with them personally the day before and after some discussion, we were provided the keys to our unit. The next day, after we came back in the afternoon, our keys did not work. I went back to the from desk asking them to reprogram our keys. The front desk person advised me that our reservation was not in the system and she cannot reprogram the keys. REALLY, especially since the day before the supervisor entered all the booking details into the system before issuing the key cards to us? I asked her to contact the owner and she advised me she had no contact information for the owner. REALLY, especially since the day before the supervisor had all the contact details? I did have Kate's phone number and called her myself. Kate came down and again stated to the front desk that the booking is in the system and, lo and behold, we we were issued new key cards. The next day our cards did not work again, but at least that time the front desk was able to reprogram our keys without having to call Kate. I am a Hilton member and Hilton Vacations member and I have yet to see this kind of mis-treatment of customers by reception staff. For the stays in the individually owned units, Hilton is only issuing key cards (and not well based on our experience) - you have to sign a waiver that Hilton is not responsible for any service or in-room amenities.

Location, location, location. The suite is well appointed and spotless. We sailed on a Princess cruise from Fort Lauderdale port. This is a great location for not only cruisers but a convenient location for people vacationing for several days with convenant access to wafer taxis and beaches.

Location was great. Out of the horrendous winds for the famous boat parade .

Not one of the 3 elevators worked. A very busy check in day. Lineups for use of the service elevators.Even our grandchildren commented on how disgusting they were . Not a good first impression at all.
