Baby Blue Houseboat

Our stay on the Baby Blue Houseboat was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Romel and Dee made us feel incredibly welcome. The welcome drinks, complimentary wine and biltong pack were thoughtful touches that immediately made us feel at home. As first-time houseboat guests and kayakers, we appreciated how thoroughly everything was explained. Romel and Dee were exceptionally accommodating, flexible with our plans, and always willing to help. The speedboat rides were an absolute highlight of the trip. We loved kayaking to The Pont for breakfast, and hearing the fascinating story of how Baby Blue was transformed from a Norwegian sea vessel into the beautiful houseboat it is today. The setting is breathtaking surrounded by mountains, sparkling water, and nature. We spent hours relaxing, watching wildlife through our binoculars, and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. The houseboat itself is beautifully equipped, with a charming kitchen and thoughtful amenities, including a speaker. Inspired by the island-style music at Riverside Café, we spent our evenings listening to world music on the deck, which felt like the perfect soundtrack to such a unique escape. Baby Blue is much more than accommodation, it's an experience. Thank you, Romel and Dee, for your incredible hospitality and for creating memories we'll cherish for years to come. We would happily return.

Very little to dislike. The bathroom facilities are naturally compact, and the outdoor shower can feel a little chilly on colder winter days. However, this is simply part of the unique houseboat experience and requires a small shift in expectations from traditional accommodation. On warmer days it was perfectly enjoyable, and overall this was a very minor consideration in what was otherwise an exceptional stay!

As I am wheelchair bound but walk with difficulties with a walker the owners helped me from and to my car to get me into and out of the boat. They really did a great job and was very concerned that I do not get hurt. They explained everything very well and we had no problems at all. We received welcome coctails and a bottle of wine. I would truely recomment the Baby Blue Cruiser.

There is absolutely nothing one can find not to like about anything on Baby Blue and the restaurant. Delicious meals and cocktails with loads of fun to be had on the water with ample activities to choose from

Staying on Baby Blue was such a fun adventure—completely different from the usual B&B, and perfect for those who love nature and wildlife. The location in the Umtamvuna River gorge is breathtaking, and an afternoon spent canoeing up and down river was a definite highlight, along with spotting the ever-shy African Finfoot. The boat is small but comfortable, and the hosts are fantastic! Dee and Rom were friendly and accommodating.

This is a slice of pure heaven!!! Rocking gently on the estuary with THE most glorious views.... woken by sunrise and birdsong. D and Rom are fabulous hosts, and Baby Blue is simply gorgeous.

My six foot partner had roof clearance issues, and you need to be extremely comfortable with whomever you are staying with as the toilet is small.
