CHILL SURFER HOSTEL

THE place to be in Tamraght!! Staying at ChillSurfer feels less like being in a hostel and more like being welcomed into a family. Jawad and his team take care of everything with so much kindness and attention, you instantly feel at ease and at home. The food is INCREDIBLE, always fresh, generous, and cooked with love. Breakfast is a daily feast that sets the tone for the day, and dinners feel like a cozy gathering where everyone comes together I didn’t get the chance to surf this time, but I’m definitely surfing next time! I’ve seen such amazing progress in all the wonderful people I met thanks to those magical breakfasts and dinners ( Jawad takes surfing seriously that he organised a lovely surf documentary watch party around a cosy bonfire) Need anything? Jawad always has the answer, whether it’s a taxi, surf lessons, daily trips, or just the best tips and recommendations to enjoy the beautiful town It’s the kind of authentic place that makes you forget you’re traveling ,you simply feel at home ❤️🙏

This was the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. It became such a home for me and I stayed for nearly a month. Everyone there made me feel so welcome, Jawad the owner is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet and went out of his way help myself and all the guests. Jawad and Ahmed put a lot of time and effort into insuring everyone gets the best experience surfing, taking a van to the best spots in the area depending on the conditions, even when that’s half an hour away. The breakfast that’s included in the stay is incredible, Yassin the chef is so talented and makes the best food in Morocco, both breakfasts and dinners, with meals that change every night. Honestly the hardest thing about this hostel was leaving, because it became my family and my home. And I’ll be counting down the months until I return

Jawad and crew made it such a welcoming stay, close to the beach and the breakfast was amazing. Can’t wait to visit again.

Nothing I was scammed

**AVOID** I have no idea how this place is in business with such a horrible owner. I had to leave early than I wanted to as I did not feel safe and I was SCAMMED the price of a night with no refund provided. The hostel itself is shocking; only two toilets in the whole building for guest use, there is NO kitchen to cook your own food (only staff allowed), breakfast is not free they cook a little less for everyone so you don’t get everything and if you miss it being served at 9.30am that’s it tough luck. You have to buzz the reception to get in every time except if it is after 11pm then you have to call the owner. Who again, will tell you off for waking him up - but the staff say that’s the only way to get in during the night. They had overbooked a day trip because the owner is only interested in money, not the guest experience, and so they had forgot to rebook a bigger transport which left us waiting 3 hours. Having paid 600MAD for this I was concerned about getting my moneys worth. I asked the owner if it was possible to cancel and get a refund. He began to swear at me, call me terrible names, tell me to not talk to or bother the other people at the hostel. I no longer felt safe at this hostel and immediately left. For your safety, please stay elsewhere - there are plenty of beautiful hostels around Tamraght. This one is the worst one I’ve ever encountered in 2 years of backpacking.

The volunteer that works at the hostel was kind.

Overbooked – booking not honoured on arrival I had a confirmed Booking.com reservation at Chill Surfer Hostel and paid in advance. After arriving, I was informed that the hostel was overbooked and could not accommodate me. The volunteer was very kind and gave me a cup of tea and helped me find another hostel. I had not cancelled my booking and had not accepted any free cancellation request, yet I was still turned away. As a result, I was forced to find alternative accommodation at short notice, which was stressful and costly. The owner phoned me the next morning and was verbally aggressive towards me on the phone. Booking.com later confirmed that the hostel could not honour the reservation due to overbooking, meaning this was a property-side cancellation. This situation could have been avoided with proper availability management and communication. Turning guests away after arrival is unacceptable. I would not recommend this property, especially for travellers arriving late or those who need reliability

The volunteers were great

I booked for a couple of nights but when I went to do the check in they called the manager and they passed me the phone to let me know they don't do bookings for less than three nights and when asked if I could book for three nights he told me "No we're a surf camp you can cancel the booking and we'll give you your money back"

I really loved Jawaad’s spirit and the mood at the hostel, the dorm room was so nice
