Hotel Atrium Jongno

Very happy with my stay at the Hotel. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Always greeting you with a smile and happy to help with any queries. The room is spacious and comfortable. The bed is huge, big tv and a wardrobe including hangers. The shower was lovely and hot with a good spray. Literally across the road from the markets and few minutes walk away from buses and trains. I liked the fact each room has an airconditioner/heater that you can adjust to your preferred temperature.

The only thing that dropped the hotel to 9 points instead of 10 was the internet connection seemed a bit unstable as mine dropped out quite few times.

Front lobby clean, staff excellent and spoke English and were very help! The breakfast was great and great value. The location of the hotel was close to lots of markets and walking distance to the old place and the old village and the folklore museum. It was by chance we went to the folklore museum as we were heading back to our hotel and 1 person in our group (6 friends) said let’s have a look and I am so glad we did!! The grounds were great and lots of statues etc but the museum that was free entry and was amazing!!! Set out so well and full of beautiful history. It is set out from birth to death and everything in between getting married, having babies and all the Korean traditions. Truly worth a visit!! The last screen video was young babies and children and adults on the other side was older people, grandparents and friends💜 the most beautiful words need the video along a very old man and words were : “When I was young, there were many tomorrows, but as I grow older, there are many yesterdays. As tomorrow must all become yesterdays, today is only a moment “

The rooms were a bit tired and the mattress was soft so it needs upgrading. The room was clean and shower excellent. Had kettle in room and fridge. A seven eleven around the corner to buys spirits and wine and snack food.

Breakfast was a good blend of western and eastern. Staff have good English. Although our room was next to the lift we had little noise.

The hotel is a little tired.

We booked Superior Family Room which includes 1 single bed and 1 double bed. We were two adults and two kids. Elder kid would take the single bed and double bed would be for parents with younger kid. However, we were charged for the extra child even though he was 9 years old and would share the double bed with his parents. This was disappointing. Staff was also not pleasant and stated that this was normal to charge extra in hotels in Korea and Japan. We travel a lot and normally, this is not the case. If the child shares the bed with parents, there should be no charge and children are welcome in good hotels. But we were not welcomed in this hotel. This was our first impression not only of the hotel but of the country. And it is sad that this kind of experience leaves bad impression of the country we are travelling to.
