Ella Leafy Homestay

I stayed at Ella Leafy Homestay for two nights! Chamila and her husband Thanuja are incredibly nice people who made my stay unforgettable. The homestay is about 6 minutes by tuk tuk from the train station in Ella and therefore very quiet at night. I received an exceptionally warm welcome in the evening and was served tea and a very tasty Sri Lankan curry. The room is equipped with a large, comfortable bed (with mosquito net). There is also a small balcony with a view of the greenery. The bathroom is large and equipped according to local standards. Everything was meticulously clean. The breakfast was sumptuous and delicious. I ate Egghopper for the first time. That evening, Thanuja organized a tuk-tuk driver for me (also incredibly friendly) at a good price, who drove me to several attractions the next day (tea factory, the Loop, Nine Arch Bridge, Waterfall). I was invited to enjoy dinner with the family and the children. That was a particularly heartly experience for me. In the night I had to leave at 2.30 am to a pick-up in Ella for the Yala Safari. The TukTuk driver came back especially to take me there. Chamila and Thanuja did not miss the opportunity to give me a care package and say goodbye to me. I can recommend the Ella Leafy Homestay 200%!!! and I would stay there again anytime! Thank you Chamila and Thanuja and for these unforgettable 2 days!!! ♥️

We had an absolutely fantastic time at this accommodation! Everything was modern, clean, and in excellent condition. The shower had hot water, which was a great bonus! The location is a bit outside of Ella, and the accommodation is situated on a hill. We had our own tuk-tuk and it was no problem to reach the place within 10 minutes from Ella. What also made this place special was the incredible hospitality of the owner. We’ve already experienced the kindness of the locals, but she went above and beyond! She was always friendly, helpful, and ready to assist us with anything we needed. Every morning she prepared a different breakfast for us, and it was hands down the best and most delicious we had in Sri Lanka. The portions were huge! We 100% recommend this place and would definitely stay here again!

My stay at this place was truly delightful. The location is superb—centrally positioned yet tucked away enough to offer a peaceful escape. The staff exude genuine warmth and friendliness, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer local insights that truly enhanced my visit. My room was a haven of calm, featuring a spacious layout, a private balcony with a charming garden view, and a pristine, well-equipped bathroom with plenty of hot water. Just outside the room, the dining area boasts a breathtaking mountain view, providing the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. Breakfast was a daily treat, with freshly prepared, homemade-style dishes served right on time according to my schedule. The quality and care put into the meal made every morning feel like a special occasion. While there are several routes to the property, only one is well-maintained. However, the staff are more than willing to guide you along the best path, making it easy to reach the location without relying on digital maps. The owners went above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. They provided invaluable travel recommendations, arranged an affordable two-day bike rental that made exploring the area a breeze, and even helped secure a timely return trip to Colombo—transforming what could have been a 7-hour journey into a smooth 4-hour ride. Overall, the exceptional hospitality and personalized service made my stay unforgettable. I highly recommend this place for anyone seeking a comfortable, authentic, and hassle-free travel experience.

New, clean homestay away from the busy and noisy town. Very good value for the money. Sureka, the Landlady and her husband are wonderful and really care about their guests. Sureka also offered a welcome tea to our driver, which was much appreciated after a long drive. Prompt communication through. The room was big enough for spreading out our luggage, very clean with a large, comfortable bed. Well designed mosquito net and a good fan. Balcony with chairs. The bathroom is very spacious, the shower is positioned well on one side of the room such that it doesn’t get the whole floor wet as in some other places. Nice, home cooked breakfast, something different every day. Dinner served in a nice sitting area which also has a balcony. Simple, tasty local dishes like rice&curry. Good amounts (you can always ask for more) - some other places serve so much that you can only eat part of it. Ella town is just 5-8 minutes by car or Tuk-Tuk.

The bed was super comfy and we had the Best egg hoppers so far! Everything was clean & tidy.

The road was a Little bit steep and we didnt want to Drive that way to often with our own TukTuk.

The room was extremely clean and pretty, everything was new, bathroom was also big, pretty (new) and clean. The host made us delicious breakfast - every day something different. We asked her to make a dinner once, highly reccomend! It was great taste and local experience. And huuuge amount of food! She made her best to provide us just everything that we needed. Thank you for your hospitality!

Fantastic accommodation. Super host family. Lovely breakfasts. Afternoon tea or coffee every time we returned. Loved the position away from the noisy centre of Ella....it's a little walk ( 20 minutes ish)or pick me tuktuk (5 minutes) to get to Ella...there is a nice place to eat locally if needed. The bed were probably the most comfortable I have ever slept in!! Bathroom nice...with hot water. Also a lovely balcony to sit and watch wildlife. Would highly recommend!!

We called Homestay in late evening since we were in trouble, and the family running the homestay accomodated us in less than hour. We got different breakfast every day, each one great. Our room was nice, clean, and the owners were really helpful. I would reccomend the Homestay to everybody lookimg for silent and peaceful accomodation in Ella.
