We had an awful stay (actually we did not complete our stay, we left early) due to the overwhelming FOUL SMELL of DAMP throughout. It’s like being in a damp cellar. Its worst in the bedrooms. The bed linen was heavily treated with artificial scent to mask the smell, which made us nauseous. It’s clearly an ongoing problem due to the number and variety of air fresheners including sprays, plug ins and freestanding around the place, obviously to mask the pervasive musty smell of damp. In addition to the foul smell there were flies buzzing around as well as dead flies in the kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedrooms. There’s insect spray in the kitchen so someone has been trying to combat it. Also the microwave is broken, the oven is greasy with food remnant in and there’s dust all over the place, on the bed frames etc. The accommodation provided is not fit for purpose. Support staff at originalcottages were pleasant to talk to but unable to help. They redirected us complaints at originalcottages but they were unhelpful.
