Staff and the lodge

Het hoofdgebouw heeft een heerlijke vibe, met uitzicht op de Nijl (in de verte). We kregen een goed ontvangst, met een verfrissend doekje en drankje. Het personeel was aardig.

De bedden slapen prima, maar de kamers zijn matig. De plafonds zijn open in de badkamer, wat risico op dieren met zich meebrengt. Geen warm water, alles is op zonnepanelen aangedreven. Dus geen stroom in de avond en nacht. Charmant, maar ook problematisch. Al met al betaal je voor de locatie (nabij maar buiten het park), maar buiten maar is het qua prijs-kwaliteit niet de moeite waard. Wij sliepen voor 1 nacht, dus voor ons prima.

The accomodation doesn't have wifi which gave us a bad experience while at the lodge. The place was very hot too though we had a fan that helped somehow. AC would be much better

🇫🇷 Avis en français : Très beau lodge situé en pleine nature, proche de l’entrée officielle du parc Murchison Falls. L’environnement est calme, reposant, avec de jolis petits villages à proximité. L’accueil est vraiment très chaleureux, et les repas sont excellents. Une belle escale nature que je recommande vivement ! 🇬🇧 Review in English: A beautiful lodge in the heart of nature, close to the official entrance of Murchison Falls National Park and near Victoria Mills. The setting is peaceful and relaxing, with lovely small villages nearby. The welcome was truly warm, and the meals were excellent. A great nature stopover we highly recommend!

🇫🇷 Points à améliorer : Deux points à signaler malgré une expérience globalement très positive : La Wi-Fi n’est disponible que dans le bâtiment principal (zone de repas et de repos). Les chambres étant dispersées autour du lodge, il n’y a pas de connexion dans les logements, et le réseau mobile est très faible. Cela peut être gênant si l’on a besoin de rester connecté. Concernant le paiement en euros, on nous avait dit que c’était possible, mais aucune précision n’a été donnée sur le taux de conversion. Lors du règlement, 1 euro a été compté comme 1 dollar, ce qui est clairement désavantageux. La responsable n’était pas disponible au téléphone pour en discuter. La raison évoquée est que, selon eux, les banques locales reprennent les euros à ce taux. Nous mettons en doute cette justification, et quoi qu’il en soit, cela aurait dû être précisé à l’avance. C’est un point à surveiller, que nous avons trouvé peu transparent. 🇬🇧 Things to improve: Despite a generally very positive stay, two things are worth mentioning: Wi-Fi is only available in the main building (dining and lounge area). Since the rooms are spread around the lodge, there is no connection in the accommodations, and mobile signal is very weak — which can be inconvenient for those needing to stay connected. Regarding payment in euros, we were told it was possible, but no exchange rate was mentioned. At checkout, 1 euro was charged as 1 dollar, which is clearly unfavorable. The manager was not available by phone to discuss it. The reason given was that local banks accept euros at that rate, which we question. In any case, this should have been made clear in advance. It’s a lack of transparency that we didn’t appreciate.

Location is nice and the staff were friendly. The food was simple but nice and they catered for me as a vegetarian

The room was quite basic with no furniture other than the bed. We asked for a table and chairs which they provided but there is nowhere to hang clothes etc. Only cold water in our room which wasn't clear when booking.
