Ascarya Guest House

Absolutely stoked I stumbled across this place... just a short walk off the main road outside the new Icon Mall, I stayed a few nights in the upstairs "Studio with Balcony" room, and the moment I opened the door was surprised with how spacious the room was and how new / well maintained everything was. Included a kitchenette with gas burners, plenty of utensils and other kitchenwares, large fridge / freezer, brand new Samsung TV, LED lighting, large bed, couch on the end (incredibly comfortable for falling asleep in) and a couple of seats and a coffee table in front of the balcony doors. Large windows / doors on two sides of the room allows for plenty of natural lighting, and the balcony opens up to face the driveway alongside the property, with a great view of all the greenery in the vacant / disused block alongside. Sat out here photographing birds in the trees in the morning, and enjoying the moon and tranquility at night. Everything feels "new" - new hot water heater in the bathroom and new 3-in-1 shower head in the shower with plenty of water pressure (and a smooth spray unlike some older clogged leaky ones). Toilet was great with both bum gum, toilet paper, and even a toilet brush - something I've missed at some places before given the bum gum doesn't always do the job when cleaning the loo afterwards. The staff were lovely and went above and beyond to ensure everything was great. Wifi was fast and reliable. Air conditioning worked great too... had to turn it off at times because it was getting too cold - a rarity in Bali!

That I could only stay two nights as it was a last minute booking and they were the only two nights available! For the price (and having moved into a nearby hotel room which pales in comparison significantly despite being the same price). Can't really think of anything I didn't like - I was quite surprised with how much I loved to find anything to criticise. If you're someone who requires breakfast delivered to you in the mornings, or who likes to lounge around and go swimming in a pool, this won't be for you as neither are provided, but as neither of these interest me (and there are plenty of great places for breakfast nearby, and a beach via a short walk through Icon) these aren't necessarily "dislikes" but something to be aware of.

Great location and spacious room with very comfortable bed. Staff were wonderful and wifi was good.
