Down Ampney cottage

The cottage was very comfortable. Three good size bedrooms. Good location. The village is very picturesque and worth walking around. Lots of things to do in the area. We had an enjoyable stay.

We had a bit of a surprise on arrival as the outside of the building is still a "work in progress" and the cottage is currently surrounded by a building site. Non of this was mentioned. You also have to drive onto the building site to park around the back. None of this was a problem and as mentioned the cottage was lovely inside but it would have been good to have had some warning.

Host was great at communicating and really accomodating - allowing for early arrival as we were attending a wedding the same day. Rooms good sizes and exactly what we were after. Comfortable beds, handy to have a high chair and the Nespresso machine a bonus. Enough parking for two cars round the back and maybe one in front. It's a nice little village and there is a small park by the village hall. We would stay again.

The property was tricky to find even with a photo (we were collected by a local taxi who also struggled to find it - I had to send a pin of my location). It would be much easier if host sent a pin or said in directions that it's the house next to the building site entrance on Down Ampney Road. We stayed on a weekend so no construction traffic / work noise.

Its newly renovated property very clean Kitchen was fully equipped with everything necessary available We stayed for a night with kids and it was a delightful stay with hosts living next door willing to assist 😊

It was very cold in the property when reached and took us a while to figure out how heating works. We did ask the host but could have been very helpful if heating or atleast hot water was already available before we reach the property. At the end we did figure out though ourselves

Location and size of property suited our needs.

Wi-fi was patchy. Garden wasnt very child or dog friendly as it was mainly gravel. Unable to leave dog unattended as garden was not secure.
