Vuyani Marula Lodge

I have stayed at the Vuyani Safari and the Vuyani River lodge before, and was blown away by the brand, so decided to check out their new addition, the Marula lodge. In a way it is the Vuyani's most exclusive property, you really feel like you are hosted by a south african billionaire at his private villa. The place definitely exceeds any expectations, with a phenomenal private chef, butler and a safari driver at your disposal during your stay. Rooms are very spacious and are decorated with a south african twist. We had a little yoga balcony in our room, so thoughtful! Hope to be back soonest for that after safari midday by the pool with a cocktail in my hand.

The stay was too short

The driver Terrence and the tracker chris were great in finding the places to see the animals. The staff we interacted with in the house - waiter and chef were very friendly.

The jeep taking us on the first safari broke down after 5 minutes and we were waiting for 45 min until we were able to go anywhere. No one came to pick us up. there was no replacement. We learned from driver that last time it was already presenting trouble. We were bundled into new group and complained about jeep and guide was rude. Then we learned such guide had a room inside our villa. So every day he was going in and out of the villa through the living room - very invasive. We were told he was security but in fact he was one of the guides. And not even the one working with us. Renting a. Villa for a big price and having a stranger inside the house - with no notice when booking - in the room next door, was very bad. When asking for help or complaining by message no one responded. Very rude. They also cancelled an activity after we confirmed the activity. When trying to get the spot it was taken. So we lost the activity. We were given a discount for the mess up in the first day. The villa is spacious, the staff serving the house ( butler, chef, cleaning) are very friendly in the and rooms are comfortable. Important to note the bathrooms are not very comfortable. Towels are very very small, no place to hang, water from sink spills in person using it and hot water was not available until we asked to fix 2x.
