Location was lovely breakfast staff great

I phoned to say I would arrive late (10.00-10.30pm) and I was told that was no problem as there would be staff in the bar until at least 11pm. I arrived at 10.30 to a completed locked up, silent building, I rang the number again and a very nice young man arrived promptly by car but there had been no hand over and so he had to spend time on the phone with someone for about 15mins and when that didn't help try to find an empty but made up room which took several tries with keys another 15mins at least and then had to just leave me in a very cold room that took a good while to heat from the in room heater. There were apparently other guests in the hotel but it was pretty unsettling to not see a night duty person on the premises. I asked to see where my emergency exit was to be sure I could quickly exit the building should I need to and was shown that by the nice young man. I understand it was off season and a quiet mid-week night but some systems could definitely be improved for dealing with a situation like this. Perhaps making it self check in with clear instructions would set clearer guest expectations.

Breakfast was lovely, All staff very helpful and friendly.

Very friendly people , we stayed for New Year night and had amazing time . It felt like being at home away from home . Breakfast was excellent too
