"Basil? Cybil?"

1.0

Nice location in centre of town. Looks lovely from the outside

You can park on-site but it's definitely on a first come, first served basis. I was on a motorcycle and it was a bit of a struggle to get out early in the morning. If I was in a car, others would be blocking me in. How you would get around that, not sure. If car park is full, then it's a pay and display job. I stayed at the Fisherman's Cottage, so my review only relates to that, not the hotel itself. Very small inside and too many beams to hit your head on. If you're over 5ft 8in, you'll struggle. Owner has obviously not cared about quality. Mattress was not comfortable, no glasses or cutlery, despite there being a microwave present. Shower head was filthy and the curtain was just resting on a couple of screws. Two towels and bathmat were provided as well as tea, coffee, sugar and two bottles of water. One young lady at reception was helpful, the older one being a bit off-hand, bordering on rude. Looking at the operation as a whole, having stayed at numerous star-rated hotels in my time, this one needs a significant investment, monetary and staff training. Based on my stay for one night, I'd rather pay double for the Premier Inn, knowing that the room will be decent and parking will not be an issue. Such a shame, but this place could replace Fawlty Towers.

"Pleasant"

6.0

Location, comfort , cute, old , tradional

There wasn't enough info on the site about what was provided...no towels, kitchen has a microwave and kettle but no fridge, some pictures of inside showing bed configuration would be helpful. Not a place for tall people. Property managers bit slow to reply to emails. Only found out about check in by phoning on the day despite asking on email.Luckily it was close by.
