Tiny Duke Apartment

The apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It’s ideally located within walking distance of local shops and restaurants, making it easy to explore the area. Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero are just a short 2-3 minute walk away, which was incredibly convenient. The host was very responsive and genuinely helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommended!

Everything was absolutely perfect! The only small suggestion would be to add an extra mirror, as the only one available was in the bathroom. Aside from that, the apartment exceeded expectations in every way.

Close to ferries, train station, and historic sites and town center. It is a bit isolated but I never felt unsafe. It’s a very comfortable apartment!

Location

Very humid. Only had a plastic water cooker no stainless steel, the coffee tasted like plastic. Plastic chairs. Minimum investment on the property maximum charge for the apt.

Very confident location Very central. Very helpful friendly staff. The guy went out of his way to get keys to us as the key pick-up is at a different location.

There is no way to turn on heat. Dehumidifier constantly in use to try to keep the apt aired. V cold damp at night, maybe better in summer months. Kept pick-up at a different location, very inconvenient when you don't know the area. Additional excessive charge for cleaning. €130.

Apartment was right in Varenna and accessible very easily.

No ac so it got very humid. Luckily we had cooler days so we could open the windows. Also only one bath towel per person for a whole week was not enough.

The location was great, and the apartment had all modern amenities in a very traditional Italian building. You could not do better.

Not a dislike, just an observation: the apartment, partly cut into a steep slope could get that "basement feel" if the windows were kept closed for the day. With plenty of windows and a door to open, it aired very quickly. The position also helped to helped to keep it cool!

The apartment has a slight smell of mold and mildew

Anything likable about this apartment was overshadowed by the negatives.

most importantly, the apartment smelled like an old musty cave. Noisy exhaust fan never turned off. Most likely due to the odor. It had a beautiful bathroom if it wasn’t for all the janitorial equipment that was in it. The new kitchen was awkward. For example, to use a large plate, it was necessary to remove bowls and other dishes in order to get to it. There were no amenities with the kitchen. For example, the new salt and pepper shakers were even empty. As for amenities, an end table would have been nice. Due to the smell and the lack of appointments, our comfort level was poor. We understand the need for rules/direction, but they seemed to be written by a cranky taskmaster.
