South Lochs Cottage

The house was super comfortable, cosy and well equipped. The location was so peaceful and serene. Despite this, there was decent WiFi signal which the kids appreciated!

We knew that it was going to be very remote, which we liked, so we stocked up on groceries before travelling to the house - which was a good idea, Stornoway is about a 45min drive and there aren't any shops locally

The roads leading up to the property were very narrow and winding. The description of the cottage on your site mentions a beach but there was no indication of how to access this, if there is one?

The location is remote, secluded, with fenced in garden and wonderful views over sealoch and hills. The cottage is homely, well equipped and so comfortable!

We were blessed with fantastic weather so bedrooms upstairs got very warm, but we got a good breeze going by opening bathroom window downstairs and velux windows upstairs.

The location was beautiful and the views from the cottage and surrounding walks were breathtaking. The cottage had all the amenities of home and was well maintained and clean throughout. The location meant we had a central location to easily reach the sights of both Lewis and Harris without any difficulty. The cottage also included a handy local guide and maps with information about shops and sightseeing opportunities. The host was very helpful throughout and was great at communicating, offering some local guidance too. Could not fault them in anyway.

The property is in a lovely quiet place.

The property is furnished with tired old furniture. The place badly needs a makeover, with the front porch a disgrace, completely unusable. The bed downstairs was uncomfortable. The stairs are not safe, far too steep, an accident waiting to happen. The outside of the property was poorly maintained.

Well what can I say but thank you for letting us enjoy our time in this hidden gem! If you want to enjoy solitude and nature you are spot on with South Lochs cottage, we enjoyed every second there, our recommendation, enjoy the sunset and the sunrise with a nice warm cup of coffee/tea and just enjoy the beauty of the surroundings! Once again thank you for the great stay!
