Hostel Los Chocoyos

It's a basic hostal right at the lake with beautiful sunsets. There is a restaurant where you can eat very good lunch and dinner for affordable prices. The breakfast was very good (big portions and very good scrambled eggs). The staff is very friendly and attentive. It's a familiar environment and the kids and dogs are around and you have horses and pigs as your neighbors. We really enjoyed just chilling at the lake and going swimming all day. You can rent kayaks at the neighbors restaurant.

The road is terrible! Be aware that you need a 4x4 vehicle to get there. We went with a small car, and it was almost impossible and quiet dangerous road conditions. There is not much in walking distance, so you need to have a vehicle. In our cabin there were no mosquito nets on the windows, so we couldn't leave the windows open and it was very hot. We wanted to rent two SUPs but in the end there was only one for rent for 5$/hour. We expected to have them available all day.

Location is amazing, view was amazing, just a couple steps and you're in the water!

No mirrors in the room, somewhat unclear which breakfast options are included (very good omelette though). The dirt road was a bit tricky on scooter

Joel, the volunteer General Manager was great in hosting us. He basically runs the place together with Maria and Carolina. He offers a great subtour to get a great view of the sunset and volcano. Gave some great advice on what to do with my rash. 10/10. The rooms are basic but good enough. You get worth money's worth. Location right on the water is beautiful!

The rooms are basic with oke beds but I think they can make it so much better if they put a bit more effort into it. All in all a good price-quality balans

I stay Moyogalapa and Merida, well, Moyogalapa is convient because of its location, but I would more like to recommend Merida, this is the real ometepe island. You gotta be come here to stay couples of days, see what local people do, feel the peace vibe in countyside, enjoy the sunset lying in a homock. You will love it. hostel runs a suf club, they can offer professional service with guide. staff are nice person, also, the food here is so good.

Great spot for watching sunsets, room was perfect for us and it was super quiet and relaxing. Lovely & helpful staff and amazing Nicaraguan breakfasts (we ordered the same one every day). They can also sort out bike hire which is needed as it’s a secluded location but perfect for getting away from crowds and having a chill time.

There wasn’t A/C which wasn’t a problem as we had a fan but that’s the only thing we felt could improve it. The toilet/showers are basic but work well!

Such great value for money! Right on the water. Kayaks to rent. Amazing staff who will go out of their way to help. Rooms are basic but wouldn’t expect much more for the price.

Having a beer while looking at the sunset from the table next to the water and from a kayak in the water is one of the highlights of our trip. Also, the staff in this place are amazing, constantly helping us; calling the motorcycle guy so we could rent them, finding a guide to hike the volcano, helping us with bus and ferry schedules, etc, just great people.

I booked 2 private rooms and 1 bed in a shared room and we ended up with a room with a double bed and a single bed plus 2 beds in a shared room, so there's something wrong with the booking process here. Also, you have to understand that this is a very remote place, if you don't have a motorcycle it's hard to go to the touristy spots, but if you want peace and quite this is the place for you.

Amazing location right on the water. Beautiful to chill, swim and enjoy the sunset.
