HOSTEL KURIYA OSAKA

The Western bed was comfortable. The location to where I wanted to go (fishery market) was good. The room was clean, and had working aircon and power sockets. Slightly interesting neighbourhood to walk around in the morning.

Getting water was a laborious process as there's __no individual room jug__ (disingenuous push to buy the bottled water?) ==> My key criteria is always availability of drinking water in the room, and this failed spectacularly. Said shared bath but didn't say it was 1 bath and 1 toilet shared by 5 rooms (1 or more tenants). The ground floor was totally unheated so so the toilet and the bathroom were VERY cold. Other places install a small grill heater for temporary use. The bathroom tub was very dirty, and not obvious as the lighting was terrible everywhere. The water heater was off by default so I luckily checked and ran the batch before I used it 15 minutes later. Couldn't operate the bath's steam exhaust, as its remote control was dead due to long-leaked batteries. ==> Thus failed my second key criteria, hygiene facilities. My room door was worn out so I needed 2 hands to acrobatically open the door (imagine carrying stuff.) Imagine doing this multiple times while trying to minimise noise. Also had a wire-style lock so it didn't hang unless latched. For such a large spacious lobby they didn't allow luggage store, and cleaning staff came strictly 11am and started nagging (nicely) for me to get out.

Very nice host. They allowed me to put in luggages in advance and check in hour is flexible. It's getting dark and cold very soon in December, and they also turned the lights and heater in advance.

Road to the property may be a bit long for luggages carrier.

Couldn't find the coffee

I stayed only for one night with a late check in time, but the owner was extremely nice and helpful. The environment is clean and friendly, and the room is very comfortable. You get a lot of value for the price. Highly recommend!

I liked everything

My friend and I chose this hostel due to its proximity to the airport as we had an early morning flight. It seemed we were the only people that evening. The host was very kind and communicative and even left us some Japanese sweets in the fridge! The bath was wonderful, too! And the facilities and room was very clean and comfortable.
