Literally one window. Looked out to a building six feet away.

"Unique hotel stay in downtown Aspen"

10.0

We loved our stay at The Residence Hotel. The hotel is super convenient to Aspen Mtn for skiing. The gondola is less than a 10 min walk! The room was spacious which we appreciated with our 2 dogs. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed having a little kitchen to make coffee/tea and breakfast in the morning. We will certainly stay again when visiting Aspen.

Lavish old world surroundings with sitting area and kitchen. Good location for walking and restaurants and shopping next door. Stairs could have been a problem if we were not in good shape.

Used ear plugs each night to get to sleep. Little insulation between rooms & outside wall. Shower beautiful but open & cold. Parking not reserved, find something on the street 1/4 mile away.

We stayed in #5, one of the hotel rooms. The bed was wonderful. The bathroom was amazing -- all updated, walk-in shower, dual sinks and a chandelier just for fun. It has a separate room for just the toilet and the rest of the bathroom is open to the room. A walk-in closet slash coffee area helps make the room more livable because it is otherwise pretty small. There is no refrigerator even though it does say there is a full-size fridge in every room. We brought a small cooler and it was easy to get ice from the grocery store a couple blocks away. The decor is fun and eclectic. Parts of the room feel pieced together, as it's the oldest building in Aspen (so I read), and it has a definite mismatched character. I enjoyed how much it does NOT feel like a corporate hotel room. The location is perfection. We were there in June so we were not skiing but it's about 2.5 blocks to the gondola, and right on the grid downtown. Plenty of restaurants and shopping right out the door. Parking. Well, there is free parking but you have to find a spot in the adjacent residential area. We did have to decipher the parking map and drive around a bit. Then the walk is 4-6 blocks back to the room. Easy to park in front to unload but those are city pay parking spaces and you can't park overnight. Needing to have a cooler and find ice was inconvenient and parking was an adventure, but otherwise, it is a fun and funky alternative to boring hotels.
