Blue Ensign Cottage

Lovely visit to this very comfortable home. Beautifully clean and had lots of extras which we didn't expect. The location is excellent, close to the beach, harbour and shops. We really enjoyed our stay. Great communication from owners

The stairs were a little challenging as two of us are over 70 but we were aware of this before our visit so not a major issue

Amazing location right in the centre but in a very quiet little side street. The house is very well equipped with everything you could need.The top bedroom fan was especially appreciated during the very hot weather we experienced but the kitchen below street level is always lovely and cool. As reported on other reviews, it's a town house so yes, a fair amount of stairs but my elderly parents, including my Dad who is resigistered disabled, managed just fine. We put them in the first floor bedroom with en-suite which suited them perfectly. Perhaps it would be more of an issue with babies/toddlers? Bonus is the small but perfectly adequate courtyard which we enjoyed sitting out in. Great communication with the very friendly and accommodating owners. Would definitely recommend. Thanks to Jonty and Sophie, you have a beautiful house and we had 3 fantastic days there!!

Great location, very central and 1 min walk to the beach. Set across 4 floors. Comfy bed in the en-suite bedroom. Well stocked kitchen. Good communication with owner.

Noisy seagulls!

The location was amazing and the cottage had a welcoming homely atmosphere, with a nice welcome pack and lots of "things" to help you feel at home

The stairs were a challenge for the older member of our party, but due to.the age of the house this could not be helped.

Lovely period cottage. Close proximity to the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Loved how the property catered for kids, with toys and puzzles to keep them occupied. Kitchen is lovely.

Nothing we didn’t like. The stairs were a bit tricky for me but only because I have Sciatica.

Large kitchen well stocked with crockery and cutlery bedrooms nice size. Decor nice.

The stairs were a challenge with 3 people over 60, a 2 year old and 2 dogs one over 14. Think this could have been mentioned when booking.

The location was great. Short walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. Everything was very close by. The kitchen was well stocked and we loved the coffee each morning. Plenty of cleaning supplies which we appreciated. The hosts were responsive to messages. Pet friendly which meant we could bring our pup with us. The house is perfect for a family with older children or couples. Easy check in and check out. The bathrooms were clean.

The stairs and window sills weren't clean. A lot of dust and hair collected on these surfaces and you could tell that they hadn't been swept or cleaned. We didn't know it was a 4 bed house over 4 floors. I think that needs to be mentioned in the listing because it was very difficult with a young toddler. The stairs are steep and winding and not safe for a young child. There weren't any stair gates so we felt like we were constantly having to watch her and not able to relax much when in the house. We spent a bank holiday weekend here and it was very noisy during the night. We understand that it's an old house and the windows are single panes but we could hear drunk people walking home, shouting, and people vomiting during the night. I know it's a house in the middle of town but we hadn't anticipated it would be as loud as it was during the night. We wouldn't stay here again, primarily because of the layout of the house. It would be great for a family with older children or couples who are out most of the day.
