Mwazaro Beach Lodge

The views are awesome. Very peaceful place.

The lodge is set in a breathtaking location on the beachfront amongst the mangroves. Every detail of the place is well taken care of and well thought. The design of the rooms and bungalows is wonderful, and the rooms are aired by the beachfront breeze. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind - we can commend all of them and in particular manager Rufus, cook George, Sami, Asthman and Aisha. They made sure we had the best stay. We loved the food - the breakfasts are amazing - and would recommend asking George to cook a seafood platter with fresh fish caught on the day. We also much enjoyed kayaking at sunset amongst the mangroves and relaxing with a drink by the pool.

The location is stunning. Staff go out their way to be helpful and friendly (especially Milly). Food is excellent, best breakfast in whole of Kenya.

My partner and I stayed at this lodge for 3 nights and we really loved it. We wanted to avoid the crowds of Diani and were happy to find this lodge: it offered the comfort you would expect in a tourist place, but situated on the beach in a lovely village close to the charming fisherman's town of Shimoni. We enjoyed taking the bodaboda through the village and the snorkeling and dolphin watching around Shimoni / Wasini Island and the owners are currently setting up more activities like kite surfing. The lodge is relatively new and the owners put a lot of care into rebuilding this place. The staff was friendly, the food was nice and we felt well taken care of. Would definitely recommend and hope to be able to come back!

Can't think of anything - just keep in mind that you're not in Diani which is a plus for me but may be a negative for people looking to go clubbing.

The place looks amazing. It’s been freshly renovated with a lot of taste and they put a lot of effort into making it simple yet elegant. The staff make you feel at home and are really helpful. Breakfast was everything we could’ve dreamed of. We spent 2 entire days hanging out and didn’t get bored thanks to the view, the pool, the kayak, the hammocks, the chess and table football games. Would 100% recommend for a relaxing stay, out of the agitation from Diani or other mass tourism destinations.

The hotel is quite incredible, architectonically somewhere between ancient Swahili style and Grimm's fairy tales, right on the beach with spectacular views of the sunrise. The waves of the nightly high tide will be your lullaby. You will find there all kinds of accommodations, from the luxury tent for two to the spacious family apartment. The hotel also offers the possibility of various activities, like kayaking, kite surfing, volleyball, table football, pool, or excursions up the river through the mangrove forests, as well as a trip to the marine national park Kisite. The staff are all absolutely marvelous and helpful. One can easily feel at home there, we even extended our stay. Breakfast is copious and varied. The cook also makes probably the best hamburger (the Mwazaro burger, and not only) of all the Kenyan coast. We can highly recommend this place and will for sure go back there soon.

The mosquitos and the rain which made the access road quite challenging for tuk tuks. There was also no indication of where exactly to turn into the woods to the beach hotel, so a GPS is absolutely indispensable.

This is a real gem! The location is absolutely gorgeous, and the staff is extremely warm and welcoming. The facilities were sparkling clean. The food was excellent, especially freshly caught seafood.

This is located in a cove of mangroves, so the mosquitoes are quite bad, especially when it rains.
