Great place to stay in Matera. Very comfortable and super clean! Best shower in Italy! Nice also to have a kitchen if you want to cook. We didn’t because we only stayed 2 nights. Added bonus is parking nearby. Easy walk down to the Sassi area for sightseeing. Also lots of restaurants nearby. 100% recommended!

The location is a very good compromise between your need for parking (which is virtually impossible in the Sassi area) and walkability to the tourist attractions. Looking over the various booking options, I was initially worried that the distance to the Sassi area, the Duomo, etc. would be too far – it surely wasn't. You walk past nice Cafés, Alimentari, Souvenir shops and are where you want to be in no time. Nicola, your host, runs a tight ship (almost Swiss style – 😉) to make sure everything remains spotless clean and the guests in the 3 rooms around a reasonably large common area get along well. The common area, as well as your room is well equipped with everything you might think of needing.

I read in other reviews that the bed(s) are/is a little short. Yes, there is a point to be made. But I'm ca. 190 cm (6'2"), and it worked for me. I imagine you don't want to be much taller than that, though. The color design and the lighting in the guest rooms might be not everybody's favorite. In particular the lighting is a bit dull, which makes the room more dungy than it actually is.

Friendly owner kindly allowed us to store our 2 bicycles safely on the balcony. Modern bedroom and bathroom. Fully equipped kitchen. All spotlessly clean.

It would certainly have been 10 out of 10 if the WiFi was better.
