Beech shepherds hut

We had a great glamping experience at the Beech Shephards Hut. It is situated on the farm in the gardens, with gorgeous views looking out over the vast farmland and woodland areas. It is in a quiet and relaxing location. Set in a beautiful part of the rural countryside of York, which is a 15-minute drive away to the centre of York. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the owner, Catherine, who informed us of the area and all facilities available, including the jacuzzi. The cabin has basic amenities, plates, cups, radio, heater, bedding available, There is a utility room available for you to use, including a microwave ,kettle, fridge, toilet, and shower, which is kept clean. A short walk away is the Dreamery Gardens and Woodland area. There is the Balloon Tree cafe, which is a short drive away. We walked to The Three Cups pub, which is a lovely 30-minute walk away. Great food is available, and pets are welcome too. On the farm they have a campsite with showers available too, which we will be booking on with the family next year.

Location is great, hot tub at a good temperature and ran nicely. Hut was easy to heat up and did not ever feel cold despite the chilly weather.

Unfortunately we felt very misled by the listing - it had stated that a bathroom and kitchen were included in the hut. No where did this state that they were in a separate building to the hut, and I did not think otherwise because we've always stayed in Shepard's hut that have these - though I am aware there are some that are separate these also cost much less. This kitchen/shower area is used by the hosts as part of their home so did not feel very private, and made for a few uncomfortable moments for us. There were also times when the hot water ran out in the shower, and the kitchen. There were no dish towels or drying rack - I had brought one however this was by chance. There was no bin inside or outside the hut and no instructions on what to do with waste. These things I could overlook if we hadn't been so blindsided by the shower situation! Ultimately I do not think the value for money is there with the separate kitchen/shower area. I feel if the owners were upfront about this in the posting they would not be able to charge what we paid. For the price there are much better huts available if you value your privacy.

the tea making could, with a bit of changing things around, be in the hut a mini fridge for some milk would have done the trick but this is such a small issue - it didn't matter
