CEYLON VILLA NILAVELI

Pool and outdoor space beautiful and very well looked after.

We visited Ceylon Villa during the rainy season so were not sure what to expect in terms of shops and amenities being open. I messaged the owner well in advance with a few queries but recieved no reply.  The location is probably ok in the normal season, there is a lovely bakery just down the road and some small shops. It is a short walk to one of the beaches but about an hours walk to the main Nilhaveli beach. When we arrived we were blown away by the outdoor space, including the swimming pool which was immaculate. The garden was very well looked after and a lovely place to hang out. The outside dining area is nice but be prepared for lots of flies. We were greeted by the caretaker, who showed us the keys and said that he would be staying in the room by the kitchen and would be there the duration of our stay. He also said that we would share the kitchen space with him. Whilst he tried to be helpful during our stay, and also was not intrusive, we feel that this should have been made clear in the description of the place. It is not exclusively your villa and there are restrictions on when you can use the pool. We had read in the list of facilities at the property that there were bikes, wifi and a television.  There were no bikes, the wifi did not work and nor did the tv.  We asked the caretaker but he was unable to fix. He did contact the owner who initially hired us one bike ( there were 4 of us) but managed to get us 4 bikes on the second day of our stay. We had banked on using the shared kitchen to prepare meals- knowing that it was off season. It was really unclean when we arrived and unsuitable for cooking. The fridge was mucky and we had to clean the shelves we wanted to use. There were no wash cloths, clean teatowels or soap for washing up  so we went and bought some. We asked the caretaker if he could help and he did his best with limited resources. Inside the villa at least two of the rooms had serious damp and water marks on the walls.

Facilities and arrangements

Amazing choice for the price of a couple of hotel rooms we put up a whole family, Grandparents to children. Such a lovely self contained property that is finished to a high standard. We phoned ahead before arriving to ask for a few things and they were there when we arrived. Pool is well maintained and has some shade for daytime dips, kitchen is big enough and equiped enough to prepare modest meals or serve take out. Communal seating area on terrace is a nice place to breakfast and sit in rhe evening. Caretaker was staying on premises (seperate room different entrance, not connected to guest area) very helpful but not at all intrusive, really nice. Very happy with the choice ideal for family group. Don't forget price does not include tax

Not a problem but could do with microwave for young kids meal and milk prep.

Awesome villa. Great pool. Meals could be prepared and were delicious. Personnel was very nice and super helpful.

Stock photos does not do a good job to describe the place. The villa is quite and isolated place with good privacy. We hang out by the beautiful pool and in the garden at the end of the day. kids loved to run around in the garden. house is newly renowned, new furniture,nice roomy bed rooms, clean lines, comfortable beds and clean newly renowned bath rooms. Thanks to Kejan and his staff for all the help!

It is absolutely perfect place to relax with family and friends, quite and comfortable. Beautiful garden, big swimming pool and beach is very near, like 800 meters. Everything you need to have good holiday.
