Hotel Yambu kathmandu

Little stay in this hôtel but we were very happy about this réservation...good price, great breakfast , staff very kind and this hotel was in a good place in Thamel. We will go there a next time !

We stayed here for two nights after arriving in Kathmandu. Communication with the hotel was very smooth, especially since our flight got changed several times, so we had to change the pickup time even at the last minute. The host was very friendly and helped us with everything - even exchanging money for a better rate than we found on the street. They also offered to drop us at the bus stop early in the morning because we had an early bus to catch before our trek, and they prepared breakfast earlier than their usual serving time for us.

Very friendly staff wi the very helpful with amazing ideas on how to save some time a during our trip and great recommendations for the rest of our trip. They helped us to exchange money, arranged SIM cards etc. Perfect as a first place in Nepal. Super positive

Me gustó mucho la ubicación, la calle de compras estaba a dos pasos. La cama era cómoda y la ducha caliente. El personal muy amable y muy atento.

El desayuno es mejorable. Te sirven lo mismo que cuando estás haciendo un trekking en las montañas. Estando en el centro se espera alguna cosa más.

Please read full review, especially for solo female traveller. My first stay at Yambu was genuinely positive. The staff were friendly, the hotel was quiet, the room and bed were comfortable, breakfast was simple but tasty, and the location was excellent for Thamel. As a solo traveller, I also appreciated the help I received with local touring and dining. However, my second stay felt very different.

A staff member appeared to misunderstand the nature of our previous interaction, which had been entirely platonic. What had initially felt friendly and helpful became more personal and crossed professional boundaries. I was left feeling upset, uncomfortable and disappointed enough that I chose to leave and book another hotel. What made the situation more difficult was that I did not feel there was a clear or independent way to raise my concerns at the property. I also did not feel the situation was acknowledged or handled with the level of care I would expect as a guest. I am not writing this lightly. I have chosen not to include identifying details, but as a well-travelled solo female traveller, my later experience affected me enough that I feel it is important to share. My first stay was genuinely good, so this review is based on a changed experience rather than a general criticism of the hotel. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, particularly for solo female travellers and women travelling alone who rely on guest reviews to make informed decisions. Update after property response: I appreciate the public response and acknowledgement. However, I do want to clarify that this was not simply a matter that could not be addressed during my stay. I raised the lack of personal acknowledgement and apology more than once, and there were opportunities for this to be addressed directly before it became public. What remains difficult for me is that the acknowledgement and apology have only come now, in a public response. For me, rebuilding trust would require genuine personal reflection, a sincere direct apology from the person involved, and a clear way for guests to raise concerns in confidence when they do not feel comfortable addressing the matter directly at the property.

The staff are the main reason people keep returning. So helpful and are very knowledgeable about treks. 2nd time we stayed and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Kathmandu
