"Wonderful stay in merzouga camping accommodation"

10.0

the camp magical saharain camp is very comfortable. The tent accommodations are first-rate. A large air-conditioned space with great beds, good showers and plenty of chairs, tables, and rugs to make you feel like you’re a sultan. Well, that is just the tent for your personal use. The large communal tent where meals and entertainment happen were a delight. We had a carpeted entry way that at the half-way point had a fire pit and seating to enjoy the night with fellow travelers. The Moroccan tangine dinner was excellent as was the service. Plenty of choice foods for breakfast as well. The nightly entertainment was a 5 member Moroccan group that played a variety of drums, symbols and sang a number of fast-paced songs. The highlight is a camel ride at dusk, a stroll into the Sahara dunes for photography and, if you’re up to it, a pre-dawn walk to the top of some dunes to be there for the sunrise. All drop dead gorgeous. Although the camel ride was short, 15 to 20 minutes out and back, it was enough. There were plenty of staff to take care of any need. If you can manage it, this is a great camp to experience.

Everything was great

A comfortable camp in the desert about 2km away from the edge of the big dunes. Some nice small dunes nearby where you can walk - great for early morning photography. Friendly staff, and a comfortable tent with bathroom. Plenty of spare blankets for cold desert nights (unlike some other camps!) We had an excellent chicken and lemon tagine and delicious lamb tagine for dinner. Beer is available if you ask, and on our second night the staff managed to get us a bottle of wine. Nice after-dinner Berber musical entertainment around the fire. The 4x4 and camel ride excursions themselves are good apart from the communications (see below).

Poor information and communications were frustrating.... The location is not where it is shown on the Booking.com map. You arrive at the location and find a hotel with a different name (Hotel Yasmina) - ask at reception and find that you don't have a reservation. They phoned Magical Saharan Camp who said that they would come and collect us sometime that afternoon...so we hung around the hotel for the afternoon until they arrived. The actual camp is a few km away and only reachable by 4x4 so we left our hire car at the hotel. It would have been very helpful if all of this was explained when we made the booking. Communications about meals, excursions, etc. were via a guy called Omar who we never actually met but corresponded by phone and WhatsApp - he didn't speak much English or French so it wasn't easy. He sent us a menu for excursions but again communication was very poor. I suggested a sunrise camel ride followed by an afternoon 4x4 excursion but this didn't seem to be available so we had a late morning to early afternoon 4x4 trip followed by a sunset camel ride. This was all fine but difficult to plan due to the poor information provided. Likewise dinner - we were asked what we wanted for dinner, I asked what was available - whatever I wanted, but what's available? anything I wanted ... as long as it was salad and tagine (which was very good) - again poor information and communication.

the structure is amazing. it is in the middle of the dunes of the desert. it is really quiet to relax and to watch in the night the stars in the sky. the room is really clean and warm. during the night it became very cold but don’t worry there are so many hot blankets in the room. the water of the shower is hot and it has been beautiful having a hot shower after quad experience on the Camelriding. the camp offer you a good dinner with a good price (also the red wine is really good). the breakfast is included in the reservation and is a mix of salad and sweet option, with milk, coffe tea and orange juice. we should stay one night but we chose to remain a night more and Omar try us to find a minibus to come back to Marrakech. he also book for us a quad tour and a tour in the nomads village and Merzouga with an amazing guide who speak Italian. Omar could help you to book other experiences in the desert and not only, he also help us to organise a tour on air ballon. all the staff is amazing but Omar will remain in our heart for Ever. I recommend that place

Beautiful location, amazing hosts, good music, and great food. Highly recommend this camp. You can park your car at the hotel and then drive or ride a camel through the desert to camp. Good value for money and the people there are amazing.
